Dora, I don't have information on those names but will continue to keep them in mind. For anyone on this list, if you find addresses for your family in Delaware City, let me know. I am not too far away from that area. I could take photos of the home and scan and e-mail then snail mail the originals. There are still many of the lovely old homes remaining in Delaware City. Lexie

With any luck, this Sunday I am going to visit the cemetery at the Nantmeal Village M.E. Church where, according to records I've found, many of my McAfee ancestors are buried. Does anyone else have connections to this church? If so, I will gladly look around the cemetery for you while I'm there.
Message text written by INTERNET:PACHESTE-L@rootsweb.com >Delaware City is a little historical town in New Castle County, Delaware on or near the C&D Canal. I have a close friend whose family has lived in Delaware City for 60 years or more. I'd be happy to ask her where historical records for the town are kept or if the family knew of any Sadlers. We work together also. My guess is you could try either the Delaware Historical Society in Wilmington, Delaware or, I know the archives are kept in Dover, Delaware. < I lived in Delaware City from 1972-1980 and know it fairly well. Very small town where Pea Patch Island is located, the Andersonville of the North during the Civil War. I can almost guarantee that there are no records, except church records, to be found there. Most of the early families in Delaware City were Watermen. Living off of fishing there on the Delaware Bay, marsh trapping (mostly muskcrat), and duck and geese hunting. Though there is also a good bit of farming in that area. Ray
Instead of the county named Delaware, try the state named Delaware. That's where you'll find Delaware City in the county of New Castle and along the Delaware River. There seem to be at least 2 Chamberlain families in Chester, at the time period you're interested in, and earlier. I find no Noah, but will give you some info on these lines in the hopes that they will provide some "clues" for you to explore. One line descends from a Robert Chamberlin, of Concord, who was the son of Elizabeth, wife of a Francis Hickman, by her former husband. He was born around Marlborough, in Wiltshire England. Some of Elizabeth's children came to PA before her, and her will is dated 1698. Robert married Mary? and had the following boy children, to carry on this line; John b. 1692; Robert 1694; Jacob 1702; Joseph. John, Robert and Joseph all married and had male children. On 1686 Robert Sr. bought 100 acres in concord from , from Wm. Brinton. From 1723 to 1755 Robert Sr. and Robert Jr are listed a well to do landholders in Concord Twp. The second group seemto descend from Jonas Chamberlain, who came from Ireland, bringing a certificate from Friends of Edenderry, dated 11-5-1731, and settled in Sadsbury. HE married in 1734, Jane Bane, daughter of Alexander, of Goshen. He died in 1771 and his wife in 1777.
