The only named papermaking mills I can find, in Chester, were The William and Alexander Mode Mills,on the west branch of the Brandywine, and the Rokeby Papermill, on Buck Run...it mentions that there were 6 or 7 others, but they aren't named. I find several McCoys in Chester, but nothing of Elizabeth. A Dennie McCoy served as a Pvt.. in Capt. John G. Wesler's Co of Volunteer Light Infantry, 1st Brigade, 2nd Div, Pa militia...war of 1812. A James McCoy served in the same war, as a Pvt.. in Capt. Benj.. Wetherby's Co. There are also McCoys listed in the late 1700s...Andrew, John, Robert and William....so, there were McCoys around. Have you gotten Chester census ? In 1850, she should appear, by name, on the census of a HOH McCoy father. There are also lots of Thomsons in Chester, judging from the wills I scanned over, but as you gave no given name for Elizabeth's husband, I didn't know what to look for, just in case he, too, had family there. Below are the wills of Chester Co that include the name McCoy up to the year 1834...that's as late as I have. Maybe you'll get lucky and recognize some given names...always so great when families hand them down through the generations. Good luck. Hi, I notice that people ask for lookups & no one has the book! You can try inter library loan to get this book--for the past 20 years are more, I have gotten many genealogy books this way! :) You can also try the following: If the book(s) are out of print & the LDS library has a copy--your librarian can have the LDS make a copy of the book for your library (at your cost). LDS will make copies at minimal cost for a library but will not make copies for personal use. Hence, you make a copy of the copy when it gets to your library! Very few people know that this service exist! Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

Hi..I have been looking for months on the Montgomery county list with no nibbles at all. My g and gg grandfather THOMSON came out from Scotland and worked at papermill in Royersford in 1850's with a new process there using wood .( It was the only one of its type in America.) My g grandfather married Elizabeth McCOY in Phoenixville while there and I am looking for her family. As she was only 16,(born in 1840) I would expect they would live nearby but have not even seen any Scotch names. The census always says she was born in US. Does anyone even have information on the Royersford mill at that time? Hope to hear from someone.I have just been told there were Scottish paper makers in Chester county and so am trying here. Hi I'm looking for info on Dove Ames and her ancestry. She was the wife of Edwin Earle Finkbiner,(1882-1965),mother of Margaret Finkbiner,(1902-1984), all three are burried in Oak, or Oak Ridge Cemetery, Centre County, Pa. They were long time residents of that area, but Edwin Earle Finkbiner was originally from Chester County and Dove Ames may have been from Chester or a neighboring county. Thanks for any help. Stephen Finkbiner

I haven't seen these KEIM postings on the PACHESTE list, but I do know of them. The descendants of I think Johannes Keim, I could have it slightly mixed up, settled in Chester County and around Philadelphia. You can learn more on the Keim list. Particularly a George Keim and his children, someone please tell me if this was George Keim the physician and I don't mean the son of Benneville Keim of Reading, settled in Chester County. That section of the family are on the GenePool site, of all places. I'd be interested in knowing what genetic disorder ran in this family! A whole group of those Moravian families of Oley were there. (They became Moravian in 1740 after being settled in Oley for some time.) In refrence to the inquiry about Robert and Margaret Hogue, I do not have any information, but my GGGGrandmother, Mary Hogue, lived in the New London area, Chester Cty. She was born May, 1788, m. John Huston on Dec. 1, 1808, and d. Nov. 9, 1850. I don't know if this info. is of assistance, but it's all I have at this time. Dale Huston

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question on the location of Andalusia in Pa. Someone also told me about an old estate in Cecil County, Md. that she thought was called Andalusia, so I'll check that one out first since it's at least in the correct general area. If that doesn't work, I'll be trying Bucks County. Anything is possible. Thanks again. I was wondering if there was a will for James Henderson b abt 1758 of Mifflin Co or Cumberland Co. He died in Mifflin Co.,PA abt Dec 1795. James was married to Sarah Park. His father I think was, John Henderson and James siblings: Alexander, William, Francis, Mary, Jno, and Benjamin. Is there any information about the other Hendersons? Diana of Borrego Springs, CA
