    1. [PACHESTE] BROWNBACK, FUNK & KEELEY
    2. BRUCE SANDLIER
    3. Is anyone researching BROWNBACK, FUNK or KEELEY? I have BROWNBACK and FUNK marrying into my SHOWALTER line and KEELEY marrying into the BROWNBACK line. I am just starting to get to the latter two names and could use some information and/or direction. I don't have immediate access to materials as I now live in the mid-west, so any leads will save me a lot of time on my next trip east. I am looking for information on my GGGrandmother, Sarah Keeley. From Genealogy of the BRUMBACH Families, by Gaius Marcus BRUMBAUGH, M.S, M.D., 1913, I have: [A25] JESSE4 BROWNBACK ([A13] John3, [A6] Henry2, Gerhard1) m Sarah Keeley, b Nov. 13, 1815; d June 30, 1898. He was called "Pale Jesse," to distinguish him from the other Jesse4 [A41]. Children (7): [A93] Martha5, b Dec. 4, 1840; living. [A94] Sophia5, b 1843; d [A95] Morris5, b Aug. 5, 1845. [A96] George5, b Oct. 25, 1851; d [A97] Davis5, b 1853; living. [A98] Hannah5, b 1855; living. [A99] Clara5, b March 19, 1858; living. That one reference to Sarah is the only information that I have. >From the Jobson, Francis and Charles, Papers Box 1 (of 9), located in the Mennonite Historical Society Library, I found the following FUNK information (direct descendants only): 1) Henry FUNK, Bishop, + wife 2) Henry FUNK + Barbara SHOWALTER, b c 1734 3) Jacob FUNK, Rev., b May 30, 1761, d Jul 22, 1817 + Mary SHELLY, d Apr 27, 1809 4) Barbara FUNK, b Jun 3, 1795, d Jul 3, 1881 + John SHOWALTER, b Oct 6, 1795, Oct 4, 1866 5) Jacob Funk Showalter, b Apr 12, 1824, d May 19, 1888 Most of my information is available on our web site. We add to it as time permits. The pedigree charts do need to be updated to include new information. There are lots of links to other sites and researchers. If you care to visit, our address is: http://members.home.net/sandlier/index.htm. If any BROWNBACK researchers are reading this, I recently added a number of pages containing about two dozen pictures. Most were taken by my Grandfather, Harry Baum SHOWALTER, and were recently printed from the dry-plate negatives. The pictures date from about 1890-1905 and most, I am certain, contain BROWNBACK family members. The main purpose of these pages is to help us identify the people in the pictures. Each picture has a link that will launch your email program and address the message to me with the subject filled in. If you do visit and recognize someone, all that need be done is to write a message letting me know who you can identify. If you want to cut to the chase and view the pictures, go to http://members.home.net/bsandlier/album/harrys_photos.htm. The pictures were scanned at a low (72dpi) resolution to keep the size small, so they are not the sharpest. If it should happen that someone is interested in copies of anything, write me and let me know. There are email all throughout our web site, or use my address below. -- Bruce Sandlier mailto:bsandlier@home.com

    3. NOTHING is wrong with asking what the point of the URL is, if it doesn't work...what is the problem here? I'd want to know if I gave someone a bum URL. What a dumb thing to catch an attitude over... let's go back to genealogy and stop trying to start these cat fights!! Anne Laukka

    2. Mary Harris
    3. Folks, this needs to stop NOW! If you have a problem with an individual from this list and are unable to resolve the issue privately between you and the other person, send me an email privately and I will do what I can to help resolve the problem. Posting this kind of message publicly only increases the friction between the various parties and makes it that much harder to reach any kind of understanding. Every time a message complaining about someone is posted publicly, we all suffer needlessly because of the resulting distraction from our purpose here. No one here is perfect and each of us deserve to be treated decently by others; let us all PLEASE try to treat others as we would prefer to be treated ourselves. 2. <snip, cause I don't like to repeat negative thoughts> Can't we give this a rest? If you don't like a certain person, whomever that may be, then simply DELETE all emails from them without reading them... But please, no more backstabbing.. Both parties involved in this little spat have been most helpful to this list providing information... I surround myself with children all day whilst teaching, I'd like to read ADULT comments whilst online... Please :) Lynne

The stone is free but it will cost about $100.00 for the foundation, but that's according to where you live. <<His wife was Arabella I. Talley and is also buried there. The thing I really found strange was that his parents are also buried in same plot and they don't have a marker at all. They were Samuel M. Pullen and Mary Martha Marvel. They were the parents of both William Dean Pullen Sr. and Samuel L. Pullen, who both served in Civil War for PA. Would appreciate any information you could give me in regards to Veterans Headstones. I'm writing a book on the genealogy of Marcus Hook/Lower Chichester. It will be revolved around those buried at St. Martin's Cemetery & especially the Veterans. I know I cannot cover all the families that ever lived in Marcus Hook but I would like to start with the 1600s & work my way up to 1900. The book will be called "Genealogy The Heart of Marcus Hook," hopefully it will become a series & others will pick up where I left off. Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) P.S. 3. THE HISTORY OF CHESTER COUNTY, by Futhey and Cope is available, I believe, from the Chester county Historical Soc......they are on line and have a list of books available. The price, I believe, was $102.00. I have looked, however, and the only mention of john Poston, was on a tax list for West Fallowfield.....nothing more. The following, I would think, might be his will...or his fathers; PA wills 1682-1834 POSTON, JOHN. Fallowfield. December 8, 1745. June 8, 1747. B. 222. To eldest son Robert the settlement he now lives on. To son John my real estate he paying to son Anthony £30. To daughter Ann "I give according to her behavior" 5 shillings. Provides for wife Martha. Executors: wife and son John. Witnesses: John Devor, Martha Dun. Nowadays, not living in a certain area, or being unable to do actual local research, isn't the stumbling block it use to be. There are many wonderful resources such as The History Of Chester co...and lots of CDs available from Family Tree Maker. The list of books available from the CCHS contains other good ones. Higginson Books, too, has a large selection available......so, look around...check out various book sellers on line....there's a lot available for those of us not lucky enough to live near Chester County.
