Is anyone researching the family of Thomas PEARSON, b:1653 at Pownall Fee, Chester, (Cheshire), Eng.; d:27 May 1734 at Marple, Chester, PA and md:18 Feb 1683 at Pownall Fee, Cheshire, England Margery SMITH b:01 Feb 1658 at Pownall Fee, Cheshire, England; d:1747 at Marple, Chester, Pennsylvania? According to a record I found at the LDS familysearch.com site Mary PEARSON, dtr of the above Thomas and Margery (nee Smith) PEARSON, and b:20 Jul 1701 Chester Mm, Chester, Pennsylvania and d:1784, md: a John EYRE b:<1697. BUT - according to WILLS OF CHESTER CNTY, PA 1713-1748 by F Edward Wright p.68 PEARSON, Thomas. Marple. 16 Oct 1730. 25 Mar 1734. A:407 To son John £15. To son in law John WEST and my daughter Sarah his wife £10. To son in law Nicholas ROGERS and my daughter Mary his wife £15. To son in law Peter THOMPSON and my daughter Margery his wife £15. To son Robert £10 of the money owing by him to me. To 4 sons, viz: Robert, Lwrence, Enoch and Abel 5 shillings each. Remainder real and personal to wife Margery. Executors: Bartholomew COPPOCK, Saml. LEVIS Jr. Witnesses: Rebecca COPPOCK, Sarah COPPOCK, Mordecai MASSEY. you will notice that Thomas PEARSON's dtr, Mary, was married to a Nicholas ROGERS in 1730. I can find no record of a will or Letters of Adminstration for Nicholas ROGERS from 1730 to 1778. If Mary PEARSON was b:1701 and md: John EYRE after 1778 they certainly were no spring chickens when they married! I'm thinking the researchers providing the information had the WRONG Mary PEARSON. Can anyone help me out on this?? I am particularly interested in this John EYRE who md: Mary PEARSON. Did John EYRE and Mary PEARSON marry at Chester, PA MM??
I am researching Thomas JOB (b 1710 in Chester Co PA; d. 15 Nov 1787, Rowan (now Davie) Co NC). He was the son of John JOB and he married Mary GORDON abt 1740 in VA Are there any connections out there ? malinda jones

On another list that I belong to if someone feels compelled to make non-genealogy comments they do so with the above header so that those who are purists, and there is nothing wrong with that, can use their delete key. Perhaps it should be instituted here. This should not be a license to stray too often! Paula Picken Looking for EMICH, IDDINGS, LANDICE, LEWIS, NEWLIN, SHARPLESS, WARREN, WOODWARD

From: Scotch-Irish-L@rootsweb.com This is a summary of information extracted from "A Genealogical and Historical Atlas of the United States of America. by E. Kay kirkham, 1976. The Scots-Irish Came to America The term Scots-Irish is used to describe the Scots settled into northern Ireland in the late 17th and early 18th century. In Ireland and the United Kingdom, they are known as Ulster Scots. There were some 200,000 Scots that were settled into Ireland and from their descendants some 2,000,000 eventually settled in North America. The Lowland Scots were by and large Protestant (Presbyterians), the Highland Scots were primarily Catholic. Irish Catholics and Protestant Irish and Scots were all unable to practice their faiths as they saw fit and were required to pay 10% of their income to the Anglican Church. This along with trade restrictions on export and import caused many of these people to emigrate. The main Scots-Irish emigration to the US began around 1714 with the earliest known migration in 1652. Many went to the western counties of Pennsylvania, between the Susquehanna River and the Allegheny Mountains. A large group went down the Shenandoah Valley in 1732. By 1745, the Scots-Irish were 1/4 of the population of PA. That increased to 1/3 of the population by 1770. According to a PBS special on Irish immigrants, Protestant Irish formed 4/5ths of the Pennsylvania Continental line unit s of the Revolutionary War. Kay kirkham, 1976 Observations: Records show that many Scots-Irish migrated down the Shenandoah River Valley and spread into the southeast United States. Others went down the Cumberland, Ohio and Tennessee River valleys. Many others followed but they appear to hav e been among the earliest settlers along these rivers. I have copies of the individual state listings which give specific locations with some commentary. It appears that the Scots-Irish were the major group of early arrivals in North America prior to 1800. GENEALOGY WORKSHOP--I'm instructing a Genealogy Workshop at Penn-Delco School District, (Aston, PA). The course runs for 2 hours, 1 night per week, for 5 weeks, this fall. If you are interested in signing up for the class please call (610) 497-6300, ex. 2323 --before the end of this week! Thank you. :) Helen M. Imburgia (DCGS) P.S. Please pass this on to others who may be interested.
I just think that this is outrageous, listening to everyone complain about nonlist topics. I am unsubscribing because I joined the list to learn about Chester County and not to listen to every other message be a complaint about the previous message. It is sad to see human compassion forgotten in your research.
I totally agree! Not to mention names and risk being unsubscribed, I've started just deleting certain messages without reading them, when I see they're from a certain person. This is not the Indian list. PLEASE, lets just stick to Chester county! Lorraine
Hi, For those of you on this list, that are searching for your Native American roots, I would like you to keep in mind that many of your families fled Pa, and sought refuge in the South and in other areas as well. Many headed for Oklahoma, after the civil war. If you don't feel comfortable talking about your heritage on this home list, you can continue to write me privately. I will check your NA names on NA rolls, I have access to.If you know your family fled to North and Canada, I may be able to direct you to another person in that field. They would more likely be on Six Nation Rolls. I do not have that roll. I am more then willing to help any Native American in any way I can.The sites below are for you. <A HREF="http://www.web-savvy.com/river/Schuylkill/last.html#Last%20Lenape">C lick here: Last</A> http://www.web-savvy.com/river/Schuylkill/last.html#Last%20Lenape <A HREF="http://www.dickshovel.com/shaw.html">Click here: Shawneehttp://www.dickshovel.com/shaw.html</A> Mary Jane, Bright Star
