I have $83.00 worth of books coming to me sometime next week-- the "itch" to spend money must be going around! Heritage Books has a good selection of Pennsylvania research resources. I just ordered books about the Menallen MM, the Warrington MM, and a CD about the New Garden MM in Chester Co., PA. They are located at http://www.heritagebooks.com Sherry ----- Original Message ----- From: Debra Chapman <ddchapman@prodigy.net> To: <PACHESTE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 20, 2000 12:30 PM Subject: [PACHESTE] books > I used to have a good list of on-line bookstores that sold books > relevant to Chester Co resesarch. I am searching (again, after a couple unsuccessful tries) for the parents of Peter Dicks born in Chester County PA and died in York County PA in 1794. His wife was Ruth and his children were: Peter, Job, Martha, John, Deborah (who married William Alexander), Sarah (who married Matthew Taylor), Esther (who married Thomas Alexander), and Mary. In his will he mentions his plantation in Paradise Township, York County. Thank you for any help you can provide. John A. Dick

Hello Jad, I notice that Peter Dicks had a son named Job. While it would be easy to assume that was a Biblical name and nothing more, there was also a family with the surname of Job (later Jobe) who tended to give Job either as a given name or middle name to the children of female Jobs. There tended to be Quakers or some other form of Protestant and many migrated to Rowan Co NC (mine did). The Immigrant was Andrew Job Sr and there's a very active JOBE-L@rootsweb.com list as well as at least one website...perhaps more. Check the archives. You might also want to check the archives of various regional lists in NC...I've seen the Dyck/Dick name mentioned occaisionally. Best always....malinda thiessen jones Jad wrote: > I am searching (again, after a couple unsuccessful tries) for the parents of Peter Dicks born in Chester County PA and died in York County PA in 1794.
