    3. Sorry I forgot to mention my request. I'm trying to find the lineage of my Sharp and Baker Lines? Samuel Sharp and Susanna? had four daughter's,Willistown,1840-1850,W.Chester, Chester Co.1860,Middletown,Del.Co. 1870,died before 1880./Susanna after 1880. dau:Abigail, , b.1826,d.1906,married Edward B. Yarnall,daughter,Margaret,w/gr.par:Samuel & Susanna Sharp in 1850c, Willistown. dau:Caroline,b.1836,d.?, married John Essicks,West Chester, 1860c,w/par:Samuel and Suanna Sharp dau:Phebe,b.abt,1827,d.aft:1880's,married Washinton R. Baker,Postmaster of Glenloch,Willistown,1850c,w/sister Annie Sharp,age16 dau:Tamar/Tamor,b.1834,d.?,married, Daniel Baker, W.Chester,1860c,Middletown,Del.Co.1870-1880 w/par:Samuel & Susanna Sharp Are there any Yarnall's, Essicks, or Baker's who are linked with a Sharp's online? I'm not sure if they had any son's however in the Willistown, Chester Co. Pa 1840 census there shows four males living at the house. Whether they are son's grandson's or nephew's that is still to be determine, any help in finding the heritage in the matter would be greatly appeciated. I have been searching for years, but can not figure out where my Samuel Sharp comes from. The earliest I have been able to trace him is Willistown, Chester Co. in 1840 which is close to the Southern, Chester Co. area of another Samuel Sharp who's family is from the New Garden and London Grove areas, but I do not have nor know how to find the link if there is one. Other then records of one married to a woman by the name of Susanna, which I haven't not. Is there anyone who has work on this family or is family with this line of Sharp's that knows of a website or who I may refer to in order to determine these factors, Thank you and greatly appreiciative on any help Esther I have gone to the DCHS & CCHS numerous times and although I have found a few obit newspaper clippings on different Samuel Sharp's it is hard to determine which one is mine since the ages and the likes are so close. There is a particular one of a Samuel Sharp who dies in 1873 when hit by a train. He is about the right age but without additional info on the family I can't be sure.I have doubts because my Samuel Sharp had moved from W. Chester,Chester Co. to Middletown, Delaware Co at that time. However its not totally out of the question and which can't be counted out, but would someone in their 70's still be traveling a great distance to work? The only other tick that would fit the puzzle is. The 1870's Middletown,Del. Co. census Samuel is found living with wife and daughter's family, notes, Post Office of Aston. Where would the post office for Aston be in Middletown township in the 1870's be? There's so many possiblities. Was the Mt. Alverno Post Office and Train Station there on Presbytarian Road (now Mt. Alverno Rd.) back in 1870. My map isn't clear enough to tell. Its indicated as such in 1890, but was that considered Aston Post Office then or was there another one? Is there anyone who is good with how or where the train stations ran in that time period. For instance if he lived near the train station here in Middletown and ran that to work to Malvern, Chester Co. Is that possible? Where else can I look to find the death's of my ancestors in DCHS when you can't find them. I think I found Daniel Baker's in 1883, but there is absolutely no other info with his name in their black book. I was not able to find anything on their microfilm/fiche either. Now what? lol Esther sorry for all the writing. I type fast and forget how much I've done, Sorry!!!!!!!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Esther Fetsko" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 03, 2004 11:38 PM Subject: Re: [PACHESTE] Roll Call,Daniel Baker,Samuel Sharp,Jacob Markwood,Sarah Miller, > Samuel & Susanna Sharp, > Willistown,1840-1850c,W.Chester,1860,Middletown,Del.Co. 1870,Susanna,widowed > in 1880c > Daniel & Tamar nee Sharp,Baker, 1860c,W.Chester,Middletown, Del. BOY INSTANTLY KILLED George ALDERFER, 17 years old, employed at the flour mills of Wm. Z. KRIEBEL, below Centre Point, this county, was instantly killed on Friday morning by being whirled about the shafting. Mr. KRIEBEL was not present when the accident happened, as ALDERFER was alone in the mill at the time. Shortly after 8 o'clock one of Mr. KRIEBEL's customers entered the mill, when he discovered the body of young ALDERFER being whirled about the shafting. The machinery was stopped, but it was found that the boy was dead. His skull had been crushed and many bones of his body broken. It is believed that while engaged in oiling the shafting his clothing became caught and he was whirled to his death. ALDERFER resided with Mr. KRIEBEL, and had been in his employ for several years. Coroner KANE was notified of the accident and made an investigation. He decided that a coroner's jury was unnecessary. KILLED ON THE RAILROAD Mrs. Mary FRANCIS, aged about 55 years a widow residing at Spring City, while on her way to Royersford Monday morning to do Christmas shopping, in company with her daughter, was killed at the Pennsylvania Station by a fast freight train. The gate watchman had the gates down and caught at the woman and her daughter, but succeeded in stopping only the latter. COASTING ACCIDENT At the juncture of Fifth and Gordon Streets, Allentown, Griffin REINERT, a veteran of the Civil War, met with injuries which resulted in his death several hours later. The hill near there is used by boys in coasting and the crossing is a dangerous one during the coasting season. Shortly after 5.30 o'clock last Thursday evening Mr. REINERT, was on his way home. When he reached the corner there were comparatively few coasters on the hill but when half way across he noticed a big bob sled, occupied by half a dozen youngsters, dashing towards him. According to the boys' story they attempted to steer the sled to one side and claim that REINERT, becoming confused, turned in the same direction. The big sled struck the man squarely, knocking him off his feet. He fell on the icy street, striking his head on the left side. In an unconscious condition he was carried to his home and a physican summoned, but he never regained consciousness, dying the next morning. KILLED ON THE RAILROAD NEAR LANSDALE Miss Florence KERNS, aged 26 years, of Line Lexington, employed as a tailoress at Pool & Company's plant at Lansdale, was killed on Tuesday morning by being struck by the Doylestown train fifty yards above the Lansdale station. The girl had left her home only a short time previous and was on her way to work. Several persons went to Miss KERNS assistance. She was still alive but died before a physician could be summoned. Her skull was fractured and she was badly cut about the body. DEATH CAUSED BY COLD While John F. ROEDER, an aged farmer, was huckstering on the street at Allentown on Thursday morning he was suddenly taken ill, being in a half frozen condition. The old huckster was going from house to house complaining of his ailment and getting various remedies from his customers. He was finally taken with violent fits and vomiting and was removed to the home of an old acquaintance, Miss Mary CARL, who resides at No. 313 North Hall street. Dr. Daniel HIESTAND was hurriedly called who pronounced the old man in a serious condition, suffering from obstruction of the bowels, brought on by exposure. ROEDER lingered until the next morning when he died at 8 o'clock. The deceased is 67 years of age and is survived by his wife, a daughter and several grandchildren. He resides on the road between Vera Cruz and Zionsville, in Upper Milford township, and had been a carpenter at one time. Undertaker STERNER removed the body to his late home the same afternoon.

    1. [PACHESTE] Birth & Death Certificates
    2. Wanda in NC and others, I was not aware that there was going to be an increase in cost for the birth and death certificates. It is best that you send a check payment or money order payment for each individual request. I have also been told to send them in individual envelopes. This way you get the best possible opportunity for a response. If you send multiple requests in one envelope with one payment, it will be more likely that the archivist will not know who all the requests go to if there is only one payment. Also, you will want to send along those self addressed stamped envelopes for your request return. Depending on how many requests you make, they all may not fit into the same envelope and if they do, the postage may not be sufficent. Sharon Chester County PA

    1. [PACHESTE] Birth & Death Cert copy increase
    2. Hi folks ~ I went to the PA Dept of Health website to download the form to request a copy of a death certificate and, lo and behold, the fee is increasing from $3 to $9 per copy. Copies of birth certificates are going up to $10. They will accept the $3 fee per copy if it is postmarked by Dec 31st. So if you procrastinate like I do, you might want to send for them soon! I didn't know about the increase, but then I'm probably the only one that didn't! Also, could someone tell me if they will accept one check for multiple requests? I was just wondering about that, as well if I can send more than one request per envelope? This is the first time I've sent for any, so I'm not sure of the process. Thanks for any help in advance. 1. [PACHESTE] Where was B(r)inkley Bridge, Berks Co., PA located?
    2. Douglas Garber
    3. Hi All, One source estimates that the GERBER-FIX Cemetery (now located in Reading) at one time contained 200 burials. Then in the early 1900's the main part of the cemetery was destroyed when a railroad right-of-way was built over the top of it. I keep finding more and more connections between the family of Johannes GERBER d. 1777 Cumru Twp., Berks Co., PA and ZUG's from E. Whitefield Twp., Chester Co., PA. Henry ZUG/ZOOK b 1794 who was s/o Christian ZUG and Magdalena BLANK and his wife Christiana KURTZ (1801 -1874) are buried at Binkley/Brinkley's Bridge in Berk's county, according to the LDS site. Wasn't the Lancaster Bridge built over the Schuylkill River in 1831, at the point where the GERBER-FIX cemetery was located? I am thinking that some of those who were "lost" at the cemetery included this ZUG family, although there is no way to tell. If I can get my early ZUGs / TROYERs/ KURTZs etc.straightened out (impossible you say?) I think I can offer more guesses as to who mi! ght have been buried in this cemetery. Resigned 20th April, 1780. >> ________________ Comment-HH George KNOX served as an officer from Feb 1777 to April 1780 (over three years). It can be presumed that he was enlisted in the Regiment before he was commissioned an Ensign, so he had even longer service. See lineage of the 9th PA Regt below. ________________ 9th Pennsylvania Regiment LINEAGE * Authorized 16 September 1776 in the Continental Army as the 9th Pennsylvania Regiment. * Assigned 27 December 1776 to the Main Army. * Organized in spring 1777 at Philadelphia to consist of 8 companies from Westmoreland, Lancaster, Chester, Philadelphia and Cumberland Counties. * Assigned 27 May 1777 to the 3d Pennsylvania Brigade, an element of the Main Army. * Reorganized 1 July 1778 to consist of 9 companies. * Relieved 22 July 1778 from the 3d Pennsylvania Brigade and assigned to the 2d Pennsylvania Brigade, an element of the Main Army. * Consolidated 17 January 1781 with the 5th Pennsylvania Regiment. ENGAGEMENTS * Northern New Jersey * Defense of Philadelphia * Philadelphia - Monmouth * New Jersey 1780 HISTORY Lineage taken from "The Continental Army" by Robert K Wright _______________ Comment-HH It would appear that George KNOX was from Westmoreland, Lancaster, Chester, Philadelphia or Cumberland County as these are the counties providing 8 companies to the 9th PA Regt which was reorganized 1 July 1778 to consist of 9 companies. The significance of the added company was that each Regiment was to organize a Light Infantry Company. These Regimental Light Infantry Companies of the Regiments of General Washington's Main Army were assembled into a Corps of Light Infantry in the spring of 1779 under General Anthony Wayne for the purpose of providing a highly skilled and committed group to the task of assaulting the British fort at Stony Point, NY. For Lt. Geo. KNOX to be in the Corps of Light Infantry meant that he was an officer in the Light Infantry Co. of the 9th PA Regt. ___________________ Hopefully, there will be more to come.
