I guess I'll try again with my Chester County dead ends. My mom and I went to Chester County in October and found a teeny bit of info on our line, but maybe someone out there can help: John SMITH Sr. and John SMITH Jr., West Nantmeal township, 1800-1810. John SMITH Jr. married to Mary Anna Ross THOMPSON, daughter of John THOMPSON and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a widow for several years, and died in 1805 or so. I have wills for Elizabeth THOMPSON and her father-in-law, Archibald THOMPSON. Am trying to locate more information on John SMITH Sr. - where did he come from (born app. 1750), how did he obtain his property in West Nantmeal township, what happened to him after 1810 when his son moved away, etc. Also, I need to find out where/how Archibald THOMPSON obtained his property. He was paying taxes on in as early as 1750, but I couldn't find record of a deed. I visited West Nantmeal township and took some photographs. It is a beautiful area. Any connections? Please contact me! Carol Colvin Puyallup WA (10 inches of snow today and it's still falling!)

Hello Chester listers, My Chester county lines include: SPEAKMAN, MERCER, KEELER, STERN, ELWELL, ROTHHAAS (ROTHAS), HAINS, CURRIER, HOOPES, PIERCE, HARLAN, GILPIN, STARR, EACHUS, LEWIS, PYLE, PENNEL, MINSHALL, TAYLOR, SMEDLEY, WEST, WOLLERTON, WORALL, and many others. I have met many "cousins" through this helpful list and appreciated the invaluable information, leads, and insights of list members for 8 years now. I am happy to correspond with others searching for family information. My brick walls: Howard E. SPEAKMAN possibly from the Caln/Thorndale, Coatsville, Downingtown, East Bradford area. Married to and fathered two children with Naomi MERCER who was b. about 1900. No record of him living with the family in 1920 census when first child William Arthur SPEAKMAN was 11 months old. Second child Lynwood SPEAKMAN b. about 1921 and died in early childhood, no birth certificate or census records exist for him. I have no information on which branch of the prolific SPEAKMAN family in Chester county Howard may have come from. He seems to disappear after Lynwood's birth, and it's unclear if there was a divorce or why he never lived with his wife. Perhaps he had returned from serivice in WWI and was stationed at a base? Just speculating. Thomas ELWELL d. 1868 & Annie Elender THOMPSON. IGI info says they married in Kimbleville in 1842. The 1840 Census lists a Thomas ELWELL who was age 30 to 40 living in London Grove with 1 male age 5 to 10, and one male age 15to 20, and 4 females: one under 5, one under 10, one under 30, and one under 40. Any help with these two families would be much appreciated. Thanks, and best wishes for finding new leaves on your family tree in the new year! -Kim Berkeley, CA

Well, it would be a good idea to submit your names to the list, as long as the listmaster doesn't protest!....Just to see if there are others who might connect. I am on the PABERKs list and the listees there submit their names to a common site, which is collated, and everyone's surnames and relations are returned to the list, every other month. Could something like this be started on this list? Need a volunteer to collate the info! Otherwise, when one person starts the surname roll, there are too many messages to keep up with the surnames for everyone...but a compiled list, posted to the list, and to the ~pachester board might help us all connect? An idea!
