I am looking for information on John Arters of East Brandywine (b.1783-d 1852) md to Ann( Miller)??? I know of one son Robert Arters of Churchtown Lancaster County.b 1812 d 1856. Wish I could be of some help with the Powell family , but I've hit a brickwall with John Arters. I'd be happy to share what I do have on the Arters of Chester County. Jill Mitchell
Not to belittle accessible.com, as I subscribed for a year and found them a wonderful source of information for my EYRE family who have resided in Delaware cnty, PA from 1682 to the 1930's, BUT, their information is also accessible online thru a subscription to the Godfrey Memorial Library online services for $35 a year subscription which is considerably cheaper than a direct subscription to the accessible archives. The Pennsylvania Gazette 1728-1800 The Pennsylvania Newspaper Record: Delaware County 1819-1870 The Pennsylvania Genealogical Catalogue: Chester County 1809-1870 Many of you have expressed interest in information from the VILLAGE RECORD. Be aware that the above are the only years available at this time. Whether additional years of newspapers from these areas will be availabe in the future I have no idea. Godfrey has considerably more information available online than the above but you can go to http://www.godfrey.org online see for yourself what other information is available for that $35 subscription price and compare and choose which subscription is more practical for you, accessble's or godfrey's.
Thanks Gail and all for your help. James and Lusetta are very elusive people. I'm still hoping someday I will find my answers. As has already been answered, Village Record and PA Gazette, among others, are available at Accessible Archives, which is a subscription site - and for which I have a subscription. They are also on microfilm at the Chester Co. Historical Society. However, I will be glad to do lookups for listmembers. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jacqueline Lubinski" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 31, 2004 4:23 AM Subject: [PACHESTE] Village Record > I see stuff posted for the Village Record all the time and was wondering if > their issues were available online or available for viewing somewhere. Hi: I'm new to this list and am helping a friend research the history of her property in Londonderry Township and it's former owners. The property is on Light Farm Drive and was called Light Acre Farm. The road was formerly named Ewing Road, in Cochranville, PA. The family name most prominent seems to be LIGHT, and before them, SPENCER and WATT. The original owners were the RAMSEY's and the property passed on to RUSTON, SWAN,TRUMAN, and SPEAKMAN over the years. This is all she knows and wonderd if any of this rings a bell. Any help offered would be really appreciated. Mary Jean

Thank you Gail, Dolores and Karlene for your welcomes to this list and quick responses to my query. I have done some research on these lines but have run into the proverbial brick wall. I would really like to find more info on Thomas Powell. And his wife, Mary. Would like to find her maiden name. I am sure one day someone will uncover the information. On the Arter family I also have bits and pieces. It is fun though finding new cousins and others who are working on these families. Kathy Kiley

I could not find them in the 1870 census anywhere. I also tried to find the sons later, in 1920, to see if I could find a year of immigration, but could not find them either. I do not have access to an 1860 index or one for 1900. If you post your query to my list [email protected] I'm sure someone can look up 1860 for you, or 1900 for the sons. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2004 7:50 AM Subject: [PACHESTE] McSHANE -SHEPARD -ALLIN -MAYNES -MANES -TUTTLE -- lookup :) Good morning list, I'm searching for the place of birth & the ancestry of John McSHANE husband of Susan MAYNES.
