Yes, Gen. Philip Benner was the founder of Rock Iron Works. There was both a forge and a furnace there, although one was some distance downstream from the other, all along Spring Creek. The lands were bought up by the Rockview State Correctional Institution in 1911-12 and all traces of the village are long gone. The Benners had a beautiful mansion which is now just a wooded area - no trace of the house. Photographs survive, however.
