BURNS Mr. Burns, 78, of Gatesburg, Warriors Mark RD 1, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 1982, in his residence, after a brief illness. Mr. Burns retired as a self-employed farmer in Gatesburg in 1966, after 37 years. After that he had worked in lumbering until the present. He was born Jan. 1, 1904, in Bald Eagle, the son of George and Alice (Woodle) Burns, and June 14, 1922, in Pine Grove Mills, married Blanche A. Rossman. Surviving are his wife, five children: Mrs. Leona Markle of Pennsylvania Furnace, Mrs. Genevieve Barto and Mrs. Frieda Barto of Gatesburg, Harold of Boalsburg and M. Kenneth of Warriors Mark RD 1; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Luella Hoffman of Tyrone. Mr. Burns was a member of Gatesburg Lutheran Church, where he had been a council member and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of State College Masonic Lodge, Jaffa Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite Bodies, Baileyville Grange, Gatesburg Cemetery Association, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Port Matilda Lodge, and Baileyville Sportsmen's Association. He had been a Ferguson Township supervisor for more than six years. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Theodore J. Feller Memorial Home, Warriors Mark, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Gatesburg Lutheran Church. BURNS -- Services for Clair F. Burns of Gatesburg, Warriors Mark RD 1, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Gatesburg Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Robert A. Heydenreich. Interment in Gatesburg Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Theodore J. Feller Memorial Home, Warriors Mark, and 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the Gates Lutheran Church. A Masonic service will be held at 9 p.m. Tuesday in the memorial home.
