    1. Re: [PACENTRE] Milesburg Cemetery
    2. Susan and list, I have just returned from an extended trip but will attempt to answer your question as best I am able. The Milesburg Cemetery was read in 1928 or so by the late Adella Spangler. When we (CCGS) read it a few years ago -- my grandfather and I doing the actual readings -- we had a copy of the Spangler information along with us. When a stone was unreadable we would consult the Spangler listing and see if it looked like that was what it said. We were able to make out many stones that way to at least identify location. There are no lot or burial records for that graveyard so the recording of the stones and their locations, as we have done, was vital for accessibility of the information to future generations. The Boggs Township/Milesburg Borough book is not anticipated in the extremely near future, but it is in progress. I may have a listing for that cemetery somewhere here, but as I have come home to literally hundreds of emails I cannot now take the time for an indepth search. What I can tell you to do is write to the Centre County Library in Bellefonte. I do remember the John Turner stone (Rev Vet). There is a new, replacement stone on the grave, probably done by a descendant because the old one could no longer be deciphered. 3. Thanks, Justin. I appreciate your response to my message. I guess I will have to hire a professional genealogist to do my legwork up there. The three days we spent there just wasn't enough time at all! We accomplished a lot, but when I got home I had more and more questions. I realized I had only reached the tip of the iceberg! I figured that these old headstones (from the 1800's) would be well worn out by now. I looked through, as did some of the volunteers, through Spangler for Turner, specifically Vance Turner at that time, and there were no family members listed there that I knew of. It was confusing to me since all over the obits I have it is mentioned that my ancestors were buried in the cemeteries of the region (Milesburg, Curwensville, Philipsburg, etc.) and yet no mention of them was in Spangler. Now that I have learned that the Spanglers might have missed some graves I don't feel so confused. The libraries and historical associations in the area (Clearfield, Bellefonte and Philipsburg) were ALL so helpful and kind to us! These associations have been more than helpful even now after I have come home, when I asked them for some additional assistance (I can heartedly recommend anyone travelling to these towns to make use of their resources!). Again, thanks. Susan Btw, I envy you who live up there. Just as I remembered as a kid, it still is so beautiful. The air was fresh, clear, crisp.....I wish I could go back again!
