I have the pension & military records of CPL Andrew P. GROVE & Capt. William P. Grove. They were brothers, both sons of Henry and Margaret (Row) Grove. Both served in the 45th Regt. Co. A enrolled at Centre Co. PA. William died 21 Sept 1862 at Middletown MD. of wounds rec'd at South Mountain, & Andrew died in Andersonville Prison 1 Nov 1864. Their mother applied for pension because her husband Henry, was disabled and unable to earn a living. In order for her to prove this, she sent letters which the boys had written her concerning money matters. There are copies of the letters with the pension records. On the 1860 census for Howard township, Centre Co are listed: Henry Grove age 32 Black Smith born PA Margaret Grove 33 " " Lydia Grove 19 " " Sarah Grove 16 " " Anna Grove 15 " " Rebecca Grove 13 " " Andrew Grove 18 " " William Grove 23 " " There was another brother, Henry B. Grove, who was obviously out of the household at the time. Some of the letters were addressed to him. According to Andrew's record, he was born in Clinton Co, but residing in Centre Co. If anyone has any further knowledge about this family, please let me know. I'm wondering if there is a connection to my Grove family of Huntingdon. Many of the names are the same. TIA Nance
