Mil. ~ 1778 10th Battalion, 4th Co. Cp. Hugh Robinson, 6th Class Comments In 1749 Martin HOUSER was a German speaking Swiss immigrant thru the port of Philadelphia. He settled in Lancaster Co, where he married and raised a family. Martin and his eldest son, Jacob became members of Captain Rutherford's co. of the Lancaster Co. Militia. at least part of his service was in defense against Indians in the southern tier counties of PA. Martin died in Dauphin Co and Jacob migrated to Centre Co. He settled in 1788 in Houserville.
