Mary Ann's question brings up another. My ancestors are also listed as being in a militia during the Revolutionary war. I have a feeling Militias were much like our National Guard. Being a member may not mean the person actually saw active duty or faught in any campaigns. Does just being in the Militia "count" as being a "Soldier in the Revolutionary War".
