A few years ago, my application for my 5th gr grandfather's revolutionary war record was returned from the National Archives saying they had no record of his service. But all was not lost. I found it at the Pennsylvania Archives in Harrisburg - he served as PA Volunteer during Revolutionary War. His service was part of a militia which was not recorded in national records.
