Very interesting.... I knew some of the BATDORF Line (I've also seen it spelled BOTTORFF/BUDTORFF) had moved to Centre Co. because in the 1885 Obit of my ancestor, John Davis HUGHS/HUGHES ( b. 1824 at Buffalo Run), it states that he learned the blacksmith trade with his brother in law Jacob BATDORF/BOTTORF in Bellefonte, at the age of 15 after completing schooling at Bellefonte. He then started in business for himself at Buffalo Run, and in 1846 married Hannah HICKS and in 1865 moved the family to Altoona, Pa where he operated a successful Coal Business. I'm still searching for this Jacob BATDORF to see which HUGHES sister he married or where he relocated. Jean
