    2. Janet, Since there was a will he probably owned property. You will want to search the old Centre County deeds to see if the heirs signed off at a later point to relinquish claim to the land in favor of one of them, or perhaps selling it to some other person. In that manner you will find out where they were living, most likely, and the husbands of the daughters. You also will want to look at everything filed with the will. In Centre Co. each estate is in its own envelopes with lots of accounts, receipts, petitions, etc. You may find that John or Hattie signed a receipt and put their town of residence at the top, and dated it, when they got their share. Also a petition filed to move along the estate may list all the survivors, who they married, and where they were living at the time. Hattie is definitely a nickname for Harriet. I have seen Hattie, Hettie, and even Hal as nicknames for Harriet in the 1800s; also for Henrietta.
