    1. [PACENTRE] Suggestions on census records

    3. Does anyone have any suggestions about the following: I am looking for Robert Watson and his son James Watson in the 1860 and 1870 census records, but can't find them. Robert is in the 1850 census in Potter Township with wife Matilda and children. He disappears from the Potter census in 1860 even though he died in 1863. I cannot find James in the Potter census either, even though my family history describes him as a "prominent farmer in Centre County." I have also looked through about half of the other townships with no luck yet. My questions: Are there any indexes for these years? Did a township possibly break off from Potter in the 1850's and form a new township? James was later buried in Bellefonte. What townships are close to Bellefonte that would be farming areas in that era? Any help would be appreciated.
