    3. OOPS!!! The below statement of mine is in error in that the date of THIS typhoid incident is 1893 NOT 1899. I should always check on things before I just make a statement. The rest is correct, as far as I know. The 1899 typhoid epidemic also killed my great-grandfather, Howard W. Bitner, in Blanchard. My grandmother and Howard's daughter, Maud Bitner (later Clark), also had it, lost all her hair but recovered. None of his grandchildren ever knew Howard. He is buried in the Christian Cemetery, directly across the road from the house he lived in. Later his widow, Sarah "Frances" (nee Johnson) Bitner, married a cousin of Howard's, Alfred Bitner, who, along with Frances, is also buried in the Christian Cemetery. Thanks to a couple people for letting me know. I appreciate it!! -- Carol Courter Updegraff PO Box 222 Glennallen, AK 99588-0222 cupdegraff@cvinternet.net Locations I am researching include Lycoming, Clinton, Centre and Northumberland Counties in Pennsylvania.
