Newsp. Date: Aug. 29, 1878 MINNIGH, George ~ was b. in Potter tp. May 5, 1790. died in his own house in Sunville borough, Venango Co. PA on July 20, age 82 y 2 m 15 d. He was a descendant of a family who won military & civic renown in Bavaria. Diedrich MINNIGH, the first, the name in America, settled in Berks Co. 1740. In 1775 his son Christopher & grandson John George the one 42 and the other 18 yr. old went together & fought for Independence After the Rev. War, John George married & moved into a new settlement in Potter tp., Centre Co. becoming the owner of a farm of 200 acres. In 1799 George was born & spent his youth in hard work, clearing land. At the age of 18 he learned both the carpenter & cabinet maker trades while his father made a livin until he died by teaching schools. In 1821 George MINNIGH was married to anna Mary RUNKLE by whom he had 10 children, 6 of whom died while young of scarlet fever.
