I have two Twitmyer family bibles. The 1st is in german but was an american bible published in Germantown in 1799 by Michael "Billmeyer"and owned by Johan Twitmyer. It was passed to the Oldest son(Emanuel Twitmyer) and then on to a middle son(George Wells Twitmyer) who passed it on to his eldest son (Edwin Burket Twitmyer). The second bible is an Oxford english bible owned in 1882 by George Wells Twitmyer who passed it on to his eldest son, Edwin Burket Twitmyer. It is interesting to me that the first bible contains the names and birthdates of all the children of Johan Twitmyer but two generations later his grandson did not follow the same tradition with his bible.
