I wondered if anyone knew if there were traditions about how family bibles were handed down. Did they go to the oldest child, the oldest son etc.?
Mine was sold in an estate sale!!! One belonging to my mother's southern family, was thrown in the trash after the last elderly member of a household passed away. My mother retrieved it. Another one, containing over 300 years of family history, has been "packed away, but I can't remember if it's in North Carolina or Arkansas" by an elderly cousin not interested in genealogy and has no living children.
