    1. [PACENTRE] Civil War regiment question
    2. Listers: Anyone know what regiments were from Centre Co., PA in the Civil War? Specifically, trying to determine if my ancestor Patrick KELLY, b. 1818, Co. Galway, Ireland, served and died in the war. Any help greatly appreciated. Marybeth Corrigall ACMBJC@aol.com

    3. Hi: My great grandfather, John I. Shaner was recruited from Centre Co., June 1861, Co. E., 5th Regiment, Penn. Res., (34th Regiment--never had understood the double numbers). He left the infantry and joined the 6th US Cavalry shortly after Sharpsburg. This company was not exclusively Centre Co. men, but all from general area. John re-enlisted in 1864 and finished his six years out West protecting the settlers. I checked the list of Co. E. members and found a Thomas Kelly, died Dec 1862 of wounds received at Fredericksburg Dec. 1862, but no Patrick. I believe I found my information in a volume from the PA Archives rented from Hoenstine and I assume those books are not in the Blair Co. Gen Soc. Library. Hope this helps.
