Justin,Sue and Group It is correct, a "Gold Star" pin was given to the mothers of US Servicemen killed during the Wars. This practice continued through the Viet Nam war, and possibly longer. My grandmother received a Gold Star when my uncle died in Viet Nam in 1968. The family arranged for all of his siblings to receive the pin as well. Brenda
