Judy, Anna Houser, wife of Jacob Worts, was born in 1789 in what is now Houserville, College Twp, Centre Co, PA. She died 24 Aug 1835 (tombstone erroneously inscribed 1834; death info from father's estate), and is buried at Houserville. Her death resulted from a severe illness caught from stepping in cold water while attempting to rescue her children from a flood in her cabin. She was successful in the rescue. To make the task easier, I think I should explain something I perhaps did not make clear. I apologize. When you have multiple surnames, list them thus: SURNAME1; JKHouser84@aol.com SURNAME2; JKHouser84@aol.com SURNAME3; JKHouser84@aol.com With your email after each one, and each surname on a new line. This makes them easier to copy-paste and saves a lot of work. Thanks much and I look forward to a great organized roll call! Good evening, listmembers, In the early part of this year I organized a roll call for the benefit of the list. Many persons told me that it was a good idea, enhancing and simplifying their surname searching. One of the burdens of a regular "roll call" is the inevitable flood of emails to the list as people submit their surnames to be seen by all. The organized roll call eliminates this struggle. First off, send all emails of your surnames to myself, the listowner, at JKHouser84@aol.com. DO NOT send surname lists to the list. This defeats the entire purpose of this organized roll call. When you send your surnames, format them thus: SURNAME; additional info you think necessary; your email address Put surname in ALL CAPS. Separate surname by a semicolon (;). Separate add'l info from your email address by another semicolon. Keep everything to ONE LINE. List your surnames in Alphabetical Order. You are welcome to post more than one variant spelling of the surname, as a separate listing -- please, keep them in alphabetical order. If lists do not adhere to this format they will be deleted as I do not have the time to re-format them. You may list as many surnames as you wish (preferably those with a Centre County connection for purposes of this list). This has worked well in the past and I hope that many of us can establish new connections through a re-run of the organized roll call. I noticed in the past few months there are many new list subscribers, many of whom are "lurkers" (i.e. persons who do not regularly post). As list activity is a little slow this is an excellent "icebreaking" and info sharing activity. I look forward to receiving your emails. (remember, send to me, NOT the list!!) Jim, Thanks for the suggestion. I had looked there but I didn't see any mention of any Baney's (Bainey's) there other than Harry and Rella Bainey. I have a funeral notice for their infant son, Mahlon Alfred, who died on May, 30, 1913 that says he was buried there. Also, his namesake, Mahlon (Malen) A. Baney was buried there the same year on August 16th and I didn't see his name mentioned. Again, thanks. Maybe someone "out there" knows of these families and can help clear this up. I have several newspaper notices that state several ancestors were "buried in Centre." Does anyone have an idea which cemetery that might be? I haven't seen a listing for a "Centre Cemetery"--just "Centre Hall" and one other like that. Also, does anyone have an idea what "he followed tanning nearly all of his life" means? It was written in my great great grandfather's, Vance Turner, funeral notice. Does that mean he was a tanner or what? Thanks in advance... Susan
Hi everyone. It has been brought to the ICM groups attention that the Goss Cemetery in Clearfield County has not been collected. So our next visit to Clearfield will include the collection of that cemetery. Mother say's that there are many graves in the older section towards the back that are not marked. Possibly could someone paruse the internect genealogical sites and find names of people that are supposed to be buried there? Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, Renee L. Renee, Somewhere here in my "mountain" papers and research material I have an old reading for the Goss Cemetery. I will look tonight after work and see if I can dig it up. There are two cemeteries that are refered to as Goss cemetery, and I know I have a reading done many years ago for both. Which of these is the one you want? I can scan and e-mail the papers to you to be printed out on your end which will save time. keep up the excellent work, Chuck Bush At 12:40 PM 8/1/01 -0400, you wrote: >Hi everyone. > >It has been brought to the ICM groups attention that the Goss Cemetery in >Clearfield County has not been collected.
