    1. [PACENTRE] Re: Kelly
    2. Colette, Very kind of you to reply about the KELLY surname, but the one you give below is not mine. Wish it was! Patrick KELLY, b. abt. 1820, Ireland was married to Mary Ann DOLAN, b. 1825, Co. Galway, Ireland. Mary Ann was a sister of Martin DOLAN, b. 1822, Ireland who settled in Centre Co., PA. I cannot locate my Patrick Kelly in Allegheny Co., PA, where Mary Ann nee DOLAN KELLY eventually had a second marriage to a Richard HALL. Richard and Mary Ann HALL are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Allegheny Co., but Patrick Kelly has literally fallen off the face of this earth! <G> Do know that Patrick KELLY and Mary Ann DOLAN had two children, Patrick "Patsy" b. abt. 1852, PA [county not known], and my Gr-grm, Mary Anna KELLY, b. 1855, PA [county not known]. Thought that maybe this elusive Patrick KELLY might have settled in Centre Co. at some point, since Mary Ann DOLAN's brother, Martin DOLAN was here, and I did find the KELLY surname in the <<Area History: History of Axemann, Centre Co, PA>>. There is a question on the website about who the furnace Julia Ann was named after. James did not have any children, but his first wife was Julianna Gregg. Ann and John's daughter Mary married Moses Thompson. Another daughter Maragaret married Andrew Gregg. If anyone is connected to these families and didn't know about the connection to James Watson or has information to share, I would love to hear from you.">> ******************* Paul M. DUBBS, the author of "Where To Go and Place Names of Centre Co." wrote: <<"Julian, originally called Julian Furnace, was named for an iron furnace built there abt. 1837 when the present village site was covered wtih a dense growth of timber. The furnace was built by Gen James IRVIN and John ADAMS, partners and was named in honor of Julia Ann, some claiming her to be the daughter of Gen. IRVIN, others that it was named for the daughter of Mr. ADAMS. At all events, the name was Julia Ann until the completion of the railroad station, at which time it was shortened to Julian.">> Regards, Paul
