    1. Re: [PACENTRE] Cedar Creek/ Linn's History
    2. Cedar Creek area is now in Harris Township, but before 1836 was a part of Potter. Linn's History is available from the Centre County Historical Society (bicentennial edition) for $85.00, from a dealer in Maryland (2 vols. I believe) for something like $67, and from www.bushbooks.com on CD ROM for about $40. 1. [PACENTRE] Deaths of Elizabeth HESS WATSON and Andrew J. WATSON
    2. jwatson
    3. Hi all -- I am sorry to be bombarding this forum with so many questions, but I have entered one of those periods when the pieces of the puzzle are coming together and I need only a few more bits of information to make sense of everything. (Well maybe not everything -- but the story of my Watson ancestors, at least.) Specifically I am interested in finding out if anyone knows the the date of death and burial place of Elizabeth Hess Watson, born about 1825 and died sometime between 1864 and 1878. She was the daughter of Rachel and Lewis Hess. Census of 1860 has the Watson family in Walker Township, records also indicate the family lived in Boggs Township. Also wonder if anyone has a reference to the death of Andrew J. Watson (son of Elizabeth and James Watson) born about 1855, may have died sometime before 1878.

    1. [PACENTRE] Cedar Creek/ Linn's History
    2. jwatson
    3. HI all -- I know someone out there knows where Cedar Creek is. I am trying to determine whether Joseph G. Watson born in Cedar Creek in 1802 is likely to be part of my line. The obituary written in 1849 says "Cedar Creek, now Linden Hall." The Watsons I am researching were living in Potters Township in 1802. Is Cedar Creek by any chance part of Potters Township? Second question -- Is Linn's history still in print for purchase?

    1. [PACENTRE] Old PA Documents for sale on E-Bay
    2. Sue Renkert
    3. There are MANY old Pennsylvania documents for sale on E-Bay. These folks cleaned out an attic and their ggg grandfather's trunk. There are literally hundreds of these documents, from throughout Pennsylvania, from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s. There are also items from New York and possibly other states. Some are lineage documents; some legal documents; some family documents. I was going to include all of the names, but soon realized there were too many to list. I am sending this to the Union, Centre, Clinton and Clearfield County (PA) lists. Please forward it to any other PA lists you may belong to. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It would be a shame for someone to miss the opportunity to own an original family document. Some of the names are Stover, Neff, Follmer, Voneida, Adams, Dodson, Winchester, Brenner, Clark, Dubois, Petney, Taylor, Scheid, McDonald, Adam, Root, Handeuburgh, CASELBERRY,COLLIN, WEILZEL, BOSWELL,PARK, LUNDY/WHITEHEAD Perry, CRIST/MULL, TROWBRIDGE/HILLIARD, GOULD & HILL, MOREHOUSE & JOHN, MOREHOUSE & JOHN, DECHAMBOT, BROWN , BALTMORE & GREEN, BEALS AND LOOMIS, TRICK & REDFOOT , DUNBAR AND MUSCHLER, BURNHAW,HOPKINS, RATES CO , FRITZ & TUNK, PALLEYS , ELLIOT FAMILY , 1874 FINNEY & SCHAUB, KAHLER & KAUFMAN, KYLES & BLAIR, MEEK & RUTH, WINNER & VIERING , TROXELL, GOETZ / MENSCH , WILLMER / SYKES, GRAHAM/SHAFFER , GEBHART/MOSER, STAVER, KNIGHT/GRAMLICH, COSGROVE/RISHEL , J.P.ZIMMERMAN/YENA, LOVE/STELLER, PALMER/BRION /DAUGHERTY, HOFFMAN/YODER, TONER/WEAVER, HOFFMAN/YODER, Zerbe, Moyers, UPDEGRAFF/COOLEY, Hartman, Wolf, FLECKENSTINE/PINEAU , Bell, Bird To view all the items, go to http://pages.ebay.com/search/items/search_seller.html and enter the seller's user name excusebusterss This will bring up a listing of all the items. 1. Re: [PACENTRE] M.E. Church - Spring Mills?
    2. Bob, I would be interested in a copy, as Robert Kennelly is kin to me. I suggest you give the original to the Centre County Library and Historical Museum, 203 N. Allegheny St., Bellefonte, PA 16823, the primary record-holding institution for local genealogists and historians. I do not know of records of Spring Mills Methodist Episcopal Church in the Bellefonte library. The only (current) United Methodist Church I can find in the area is: Faith United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 239, Aaronsburg, PA 16820. That is the mailing address. The street address is Route 45, Spring Mills. You can call them 814-349-4491. I am embarrassed to say that I am not familiar with this congregation. They are officially known as "Spring Mills Faith" by the United Methodist Church. FYI, the church is within the jurisdiction of the State College District (Superintendent Patricia Woolever), in the Central Pennsylvania Conference (Bishop Neil Irons). If you find that this is not your ancestors' church, you can contact Dr. Milton Loyer, Conference Archivist, at (I think) loyer@lycoming.edu. I may not have the address correct, but if you do a search on the 'Net, you may find it. The Conference Archives at Lycoming College in Williamsport should hold records (if any) for defunct churches in the bounds of the Conference. I'd recommend giving Faith Church a call, and see what they can do for you. 1. [PACENTRE] The Centre Daily Times
    2. Paul Roth
    3. Hello Justin, I recently created, transcribed and posted to the list, a surname index for "Where To Go and Place Names of Centre Co. PA." by Paul M. DUBBS. My copy of the loose leaf notebook was given to my maternal grandfather by the author and transcribed. It is a collection of articles printed in The Centre Daily Times 1959-60. It has a LOT of info on the early settlers. Unfortunately none of my Centre Co. names are in that book : (KELLERMAN_HUGHES_BENN_ HOLLIBAUGH_SHEFFLER_RHOADS_ FUREY). My site is at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paroth - The hotlink is after my Maternal list of surnames. The index is by page number, not aplhabetized. The author stated that there was a great deal of info collected, but that space and time constrictions dictated what was actually published...sure would like to get my hands on that extra material...! Can you tell me if The Centre Daily Times is still in operation? And if so, give me their address...or do they also have an email address? For anyone who asked about obtaining a copy of the lose leaf book: There was no price printed on the cover, so I don't know if it was ever published for sale to the general public. Regards, Paul A. Roth
