Yes, I did see that Fred. I got this e-mail some time back from Joyce, which makes me more totally confused. I've worked on this family for someone else recently and have some information Earl Lester was born out of wedlock to Savilla Gill. The father was a Moyer and according to the 1900 census of Spring Twp.Savilla Gill was living at home with her father Amos J. Gill. Also in the household was a Blanche Moyer b. 1889 listed as g-daughter of Amos along with Earl L. Moyer g-son. b. 1892. We have court records that show an Andrew Moyer was brought to court for fornication and bastardy in August 1893 by Savilla Gill. It would appear that Andrew Moyer was the father and Savilla had another child born in 1893 to this Andrew Moyer. I believe that in later censuses Lester went by Lester or Earl Gill until he was married in 1912 and then he lists his parents as Ed and Savilla Waite. I believe at one time Earl was living with a Waite family and perhaps changed his name since I never found a Waite connection. When Savilla died her obit lists no children. I hope this makes sense and is of some help. To Sue, Jim, and any others doing KLECKNER research -- my question: Among my relatives (by mar.) I have Carrie Lizzie Kleckner -- probably actually Carrie Elizabeth -- born 6 Apr 1871 in Lewis Twp, Union Co, PA, d/o Daniel & Mary Elizabeth ( ) Kleckner. Carrie married in Centre County 3-9-1897 to William Franklin McClellan. She had surname of HOUTZ when she m. McClellan. Obviously (from census records) she had at least one child, Edith R. Houtz, b July 1888, by her previous mar. Do any of you know who this Mr. Houtz is who was first husband of Carrie Lizzie Kleckner and the father of Edith R. Houtz? Appreciate any help. I find that the way Roll Call has been conducted on this list is organized and easy to use. Most of the other lists I receive are also conducting Roll Call this month. They do not seem to adhere to the simple rule of placing the surnames in the subject line, and further details in the body of the message. This makes it so much easier when looking at the in-box to decide to read or delete. Personally, if there are a lot of generic Roll Call messages with no indication of the names, I often just delete them rather than reading each one just to see who is mentioned. Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks, Justin, for making this so user friendly! Ellen Copper

My Kleckners were John Kleckner 1750-1839 and wife Anna Barbara Koch. They are buried in Mifflinburg. There is a Solomon Kleckner buried nearby. Their daughter Maria Christina Kleckner married Mathias Snook. She is buried at Shracktown and Matthis is buried in Loganton with his second wife. Jim in VT
Hi, I'm researching the Baxter and Murray Surnames The most that I know is that my Great Grandfather was born in Centre County Any info would be greatly appreciated

Sue, 1855 was a very bad year for illness in Centre County. Oddly enough, I can find no written records of the event, but have been told on good authority that it was supposed to be typhoid fever. There are many graves in the Bald Eagle Valley which bear dates of 1855. This came on the heels of the dysentery epidemic in 1853, and a terrible outbreak of typhoid fever in Sugar Valley in 1850, which decimated the population to an amazing degree. (Go down the 1850 census of Logan and Greene Twps. and note the number of people for whom the enumerator wrote, "since died.") Jean, You should contact Addie Beck, [email protected], as she is a Sharp researcher. Have we discussed McCrackens? The McCrackens of Clearfield Co. are all kin to me through the Greenwood line. I would be interested in The Sharp family. James Sharp married Jane McCracken b. 1809 and they lived in Clearfield County where Jane was born. Their children were Margaret Ann 04/24/1839, Marion 02/05/1841, George 09/05/1843, David Henry 09/19/1845, William S. 03/26/1848 and Herbert A. 02/28/52. I have not been able to trace James Sharp back, but there is a good chance that he lived or his parents lived in Centre County and that he may have been Quaker. He lived his married life in the Grampian to Bells Landing area of Clearfield County. Grampian at that time was mostly Quaker families and the major cemetery there is still the Friend's Cemetery and adjoins the land of my gggrandparents. Jean

still trying to discover any information on Johannes and Mary Weyrauch. haven't been able to find them in the 1840, both d. before 1850, haven't been able to find their burial, could be Cambria, family story says Philadelphia. Johannes naturalized in Centre Co. in 1831, naturalization record is apparently incorrect. he states he is from Bergzabern, Bavaria, but all attempts to find him there have failed. children George? 1800-1810 Caroline 1814 Magdelene 1816 John? 1820 Michael Matthew 1823 Francis John 1826 Jacob 1832 the children, except for Jacob who was b. in Bellefonte, Centre, PA, give their places of birth variously as Germany, Bavaria, and Alsace, and Francis always says Pennsylvania but I believe was born in Alsace. I have found a few tax records, but little else for the early years of the family's time in Centre Co. which was quite short as by 1850 they were in Cambria Co. and kept heading west. if anyone finds anything regarding Weyrauch's by any spelling (there's over 47 variant spellings, not counting the miss-spellings of the name by enumerators) prior to 1850 in Centre Co., I'd love to hear from you.
