    1. [PACENTRE] ROLL CALL: Davidson, Hugg, Resides, Brower, Walker, Lucas
    2. Myrna L. Hewitt
    3. There are always so many unanswered questions. These people were in Centre county in late 18th and early 19th century. However -- from where did the families originate? James Resides came from Antrim, Northern Ireland and Jacob Brower arrived in Centre County after the Revolution. Brower is in the list of land warrants and according to Revolutionary War records, he enlisted in Montgomery County. His roots are in Germany. Jacob HUGG, according to the Commemorative Biographical Record, came from New Jersey but I found another source that says he came from Delaware. Where ever his origin, who are his parents? Our line is through Jacob's son Enoch. He served in the Civil War and was the father of Jennie married Michael Henry DAVIDSON. The first of the DAVIDSON family that I know of is Alexander who married (1) Sarah Hicks and (2) Mary WALKER WATSON. Mary was a widow of Green Watson and the daughter of John and Mary (Lucas) Walker The big question is who was Alexander's father? Joseph? and from where did they come? There are Davidson, Walker, and Lucas from Cumberland County who fought together in Revolution. Is there a connection? And lastly, has anyone found the origins of Benedict LUCAS? I am happy to share what I have on these folks. Myrna Hewitt [email protected]

    3. Hi Peggy! I want to thank you for the file of info you sent on Confer and Huff. I just finished going through it in between law school apps. I have some more Confer data to share with you shortly, but need to check a record or two at our library to confirm first. The Nelsonville Cemetery is right along the road on top of Keating Mountain. Here are the directions as I have them: From the intersection of Jay and Water Streets in Lock Haven (the Lock Haven Courthouse), travel west on Water Street for 1 mile. Turn right onto PA Route 120 (Susquehanna Avenue) and travel 38.9 miles, to Keating. Turn left onto Keating Road and go over the bridge. Continue on this road. At 0.7 mile, the road splits three ways. Continue on Keating Mountain Road (gravel) which is toward your left but not the leftmost road. From this point, travel 6.5 miles. The cemetery is on the left side of the road, in a clearing. There are several cemeteries in both East and West Keating Twps. that will appear in our next Clinton Co. cemetery book, covering all of Western Clinton County (except Chapman Twp. & Renovo already printed by us in another book). The only thing that is holding it up is the Dennison Cemetery in Noyes Twp. which we need to access by boat, and we are working on this. The only marked Shade grave there is: Shade, Jennie S., 23.3.0, w/o Wm. T., footstone: J. S. S., (stone broken)......................................................... 18(84) "Blessed are they who die in the Lord." The book states that Ellis Evans was born in Morristown, Pennsylvania. Does anyone know where that is? MAPQUEST doesn't even come up with any such place. I could not find it in my PA atlases either. It might be NORRISTOWN which is in Montgomery County, PA (SE corner of state). Another possibility is that it is supposed to be MORRIS TOWNSHIP rather than MORRISTOWN. Morris Township is in Clearfield County, which is included in your "Commemorative Biographical Record." Fred Houts in MN

    3. Michele, They might mean "Norristown" in Montgomery County, as that is very near Philadelphia and there were lots of Welsh, Quaker, etc. down there. Never heard of the New York Ledger.
