Yesterday morning, I had more time to read the whole addition, and could not believe what I found on pages 17 - 28! Eleven pages of Heckman family starting in 1754, with my 3-great grandmother, #34-Catherine Heckman-Confer-Zerby, in the second generation! (A few years ago, Justin filled me in on the Confer line.) I would love to get in touch with the submitters of the family tree to share what I have and to update their tree on Catherine's family after they moved to Stephenson So., IL. The names listed as the submitters of the family history are Johann Michael and Catharine Steininger Rishel, Amber Rishel Keene. Please contact me. 3. I've read that Scots Irish also had naming patterns. Does anyone know if they were similar to the German patterns? That might help me solve some mysteries. This site helps explain why my German great grandfather John Peter MOSSHAMMER and his brother John Matthew had the same first name, and how confusing that has been to genealogists in the family. (They settled in Indiana, not PA). Nancy Neuman Researching Gideon SMITH (1752-1841), William TEMPLETON (?1753-1818) early settlers of Bald Eagle, and their families. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JTracey" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 11, 2007 11:54 PM Subject: Re: [PACENTRE] German naming tradition > The link in Dot's email repeats the address a second time, it's a > duplicate > inside the carat marks (< >) so that is why it doesn't work.
