Please let me know if you plan to attend either the rededication or Damon's or both. I especially need numbers for Damon's so if you can give me you and a spouse or guest's name(s) I would appreciate it. Thanks. Cindy You are invited! Saturday, May 30, 2009 The Centre County Genealogical Society invites you to attend the rededication of the Cedar Creek Cemetery (aka Old Standford) which we have been renovating over the past several months. In Harris Township, this cemetery is the resting place for Mary Patterson Chambers Potter, second wife of General James Potter, plus several Kuhns/Koons, Fisher, Ford, Culbertson, Keatley and Livingston families. It was an active cemetery from about 1789 to 1860. The cemetery rededication will be at 3:30 PM and an evening program at Damon's Restaurant in State College will begin at 5 pm. If you are a descendant of any of these families, please let us know ASAP. RSVP to CXL1@psu.edu<mailto:CXL1@psu.edu> or 814-353-0355, required as we must carpool onto private property. Her name was Salome and nickname was Sarah. She was born 11 Mar 1812 in Centre Co., PA just like the 1875 Kansas census shows. She was baptised 05 Jul 1812 at Nittany Valley Union Church Baptism records, Marion Twp., Centre County, Pennsylvania. 1810 census for Adam Lefler in Walker Twp. shows his father in law and 2 brother in laws a few lines below. Melchior DUNKLE, Walker Twp., Oct. 2, 1823 - Nov. 12, 1825 child: John, Jacob, Henry, Barbara Smith, Mary Lefler, Elizabeth Emerick EX: son, John, Francis Mc Ewen, Wm McEwen Witnesses: Wm Kean, Lewis Mc Kean Source: Wills of Centre, PA, 1800-1853, Pg. 186 Adam Lofler is listed with filing receipts to the estate of Melchoir in 1823. He also is in attendance at a Vendue, held the 21 Nov 1823 regarding his father in law's estate. The estate was not finalized until 1825. They moved to Wayne Co. sometime after Mary's father, Melchior Dunckle died. 1826 tax list does not show them in Wayne so move was after those taxes. 1835 Adam bought land in Seneca county. In 1848 he sells this land to his three living sons. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We have been receiving questions regarding the information to be found on the new CCGS publication of Centre County births. Be reassured that it is not an index as our marriage CD was. It contains all information found in the original record except for the date the information was recorded in the books. These births were recorded in Centre County between 1893 and 1905, at which time the state took over the task of recording births and deaths. Ellen Copper for CCGS

I read about a website called footnote.com in the recent family tree magazine. It is similar to Ancestry and there is a fee to be a full member or to purchase individual records. However some of their archives are free, including the Pennsylvania Archives. Here is a description: Pennsylvania Archives Free "If you're interested in Pennsylvania history and want information relating to historical events, facts about ancestors, or original documents to support a research paper, the Pennsylvania Archives is an important publication to explore. This series contains essential records relating to one of America's earliest colonies, from 1664 to 1780, including military, tax, marriage, and land records, as well as documents from American history covering the Revolutionary War and the Whiskey Rebellion." http://www.footnote.com/documents/185749/pennsylvania_archives/ You can search for a name, date, place or topic in these archives just by signing up for footnote (you don't have to pay). You can also save records you find on the site and on your own computer,, and can print out a hard copy. I have been very successful finding the backup documentation for information I had on some Centre Co. ancestors in the Supply and State Tax Lists and Muster and Militia rolls. Just wanted to share this source of PA data that was new to me and I have found very helpful ... Gabrielle
