    3. Here's some of what I have in no certain order. I didn't transcribe every census record but mentioned them below. I'll keep looking into this family until I've exhausted all known avenues. Thanks in advance for any info someone might have. Known with no uncertainty: My Father: Francis W. Pace Grandfather: Francis B. Pace G-Grandfather John A. Pace (A. is Ashly or Ashley) Ashley L. Pace b. 12 Dec 1834, Pope County, AR; d. 7 Feb 1863, Dennison, Grayson, TX. Ashley m. Araminta Davis 20 Dec 1860, Fannin County, TX. Araminta b. Nov 1844, Alabama Marriage Index: Texas, 1851-1900 Married: Dec 20, 1860 in: Fannin, TX Gender: M Source info: microfilm reference numbers File name: 1293827 ite ms 3 through 4; and 1293828 Spouse's gender: F Spouse's name: Davis, Araminta I have 2 living relatives (both over 90 yrs. old, one is my grandmother, wife of Francis B. Pace) who tell me that John A. Paces father was (an) Ashley Pace. Ashley and John A. do not appear together on any census records, because John was born in 1861 and Ashley died in 1863 before the next census in 1870. No birth records have been found for John A. Pace. I'm told there was a fire in the courthouse in the county which destroyed alot of records. Araminta marries to Joseph L. Freeman after Ashley dies. This was posted by Donna Rogers on her website: Dear Donna, How are you? We are kin folks, which I am sure you know. I can't tell you a great deal about Robert Lee Pace. Miss Ruby Mae Jones and I worked on him for a long time, but he was very elusive. He moved about a lot and was married several times and divorced several times. He married once or twice in Indian Territory during the 1880's, and finally in 1893 he came back to Fannin County and married Miss Sally Webb. She was the only wife to stick with him. They had a couple of boys: Marvin Albert Pace and Robert Allen Pace. When he and Sally moved to Yuma, Arizona, one of these boys remained in Fannin County. I don't know which one now, married and had a family. Ashley and wife, Louisiana, had three children before her death: Joe Oliphant; Twitty; and Robert Lee Pace. Ashley remarried after the death of his wife to Miss Araminta Davis of Fannin County, and by her had one son: John Ashley Pace. Ashley died in Fannin County on February 7, 1863. His son Twitty was the only one of his children who did not survive. Best wishes, Bruce Howard I have numerous census records listing John A. Pace either in the same household with Araminta as a child (after she married to Freeman), or living very near her after he was grown and married (they appear one after the other on the same census sheet). His mother on the 1920 census for him list her as born in Alabama and father born in Arkansas which is where Araminta and Ashley were believed to be born. My biggest gap for actual evidence is the John A. Pace is son of Ashley L. Pace piece. IF all of the above is for certain, then we come to why my DNA test does not match any of the others that have been posted. I had thought maybe there was more than one Araminta or Ashley in that area at the time and maybe I was on the wrong track, or John was an illegitimate child from Araminta and some unknown person. The only thing that keeps me confused is Bruce's letter to Donna above. I am very curious about the information he has which supports what he is saying. That would lead me to believe that my family line is correct to Ashley L. Pace and that he is either not the son of Twitty Pace as believed, or Twitty is not the son of John Pace and Ann Russell (which I think has already been proven). Very puzzeling to say the least. I'll keep looking for any evidence and post up if I find anything... but it could take awhile :-P Thanks, Darren
