    3. IDA sent the info below recently. This info refers to 2 deeds, one granting a parcel of land to his daughter Zilpha Pace Garner and her heirs. The other grants land to his grandson McDaniel Pace. Does this mean that Zilpha might not consider McDaniel her heir or is possible that McDaniel was more a son than a grandson and needed or deserved land of his own? WHATEVER THESE 2 DEEDS DO NOT PROVE THAT MCDANIELS MOTHER IS ZILPHA PACE. From what I read the deeds prove that McDaniel Pace is John Pace's grandson and that Zilpha Pace Garner is his daughter. Are there other deeds that might show land granted to John Pace's other children or widowed spouses and other grandchildren? IDA'S PREVIOUS INFO "What I found last week when I re-visited the Register of Deeds Office at the County Courthouse in Smithfield was a Land Deed between John Pace, the grantor, and Zilpha Garner, the grantee. This record can be found in Deed Book 'O', page 33. The first part of it (the part that caused my heart to go pitter-patter!) reads as follows: "This indenture made the 25th of July 1871 between John Pace of Johnston County and State of North Carolina of the first part and Zilpha Garner wife of Wm H Garner [sic] of the above written County and State. Witnesseth that the said John Pace for and in consideration of natural love and affection to him in hand paid by his daughter Zilpha Garner [that's the exciting part!!] the receipt is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and given and by these presents doth grant bargain give the said Zilpha Garner and her heirs a certain tract of land in Johnston County adjoining the lands of Jas H Batten and others on the south side of little creek [sic]." The remainder of the document is typical "deed-speak" with a description of the property given in metes and bounds terminology, etc. On the next page (page 34) of the same book is another Deed with John Pace as the Grantor and McDanel [sic] Pace as the Grantee. "McDanel" is cited in the document as "his grandson McDanel Pace", referring to John Pace. Larry Pace
