There is a 9 Oct 1665 reference in Virginia records (Land Office Patents No. 5, 1661-1666) to one Edward Pace's property adjoining that of Richard Todd in Elizabeth City County, which was at the mouth of the James River and is now the city of Hampton, VA. Who is this early Edward Pace, guesstimating his birth year before 1644? He would have been a contemporary of Richard Pace II, would he not, unless this Edward was actually much older. - Joyce H.
