    3. Monsignor Edward Aloysius Pace b. 1861 was raised a Methodist but became a noted Catholic cleric and author. The following website contains his extensive biography and additional information about the "Edward Aloysius Pace Collection" housed at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC: http://libraries.cua.edu/achrcua/pace.html Msgr. Pace's father was George Edward Pace b. Jan 1831 (either GA or FL--censuses vary). His mother was Margaret Kelly of Nova Scotia. Dr. Pace (D.D., PhD.) and his father appear in several Florida censuses. Two censuses state the father George Edward Pace was born in Georgia. The 1840 census, Florida Territory, Nassau County, lists one George Pace b 1801-1810 who may be the father of George Edward Pace and grandfather of Msgr. Pace. These people lived in the extreme northeast corner of Florida (Nassau, New River, Duval, Bradford counties) near the Georgia border. Which line of Paces did this group come from? Who was Edward Aloysius' paternal grandfather? A guesstimate is Tryon Pace's son George L. Pace of Effingham Co., GA b. 1809-1810 who m. Johannah S. Gnann--only because he named a son George Lewis Pace and George Edward Pace named a son George L. Pace. However, I show that George and Johanna were married in Oct 1833 (per Effingham GA Cemteries book) and the 1900 census reports George Edward Pace's birth as January 1831, so, something's slightly out of sync. However, I still sense it's from this line. Effingham Co. GA was just up the coast from Nassau & Duval Co., FL. There are a couple of other census pointers as well. Can anyone define with certainty the ancestry of Monsignor Pace? He's been a transient obsession off and on for several years and I haven't seen anyone mention this rather interesting person. - Joyce Harris
