    1. Joseph B. Pace of Alamance Co, NC, ca 1850
    2. Gordon W. Pace
    3. I am trying to find the ancestry of a correspondent who is a descendant of a Joseph B. Pace , born 1804 in Alamance Co, NC, per the 1850 census of NC. I believe he was a son of a Joseph B. Pace, b. 7/28/1762 in Amelia Co, VA and Zilpha Woodward, b. ?, who married 9/23/1788 in Chowan Co, NC> The earlier Joseph B. Pace was on the 1850 census of Alamance Co, NC, age 46, wife Eliza 42. Alamance County was formed from Orange County in 1849. The only Pace in the 1820 census of Orange County NC was Zelpha (Woodward) Pace, who was a widow of the earlier Joseph B. Pace. But my record is only the index which does not show the info about the children. The 1810 census of Orange Co NC shows only one Pace: Joseph B. Pace, over 45 with one son under 10 and two females over 45. This is consistent with the later Joseph B. Pace as the son of the earlier one. An unknown source says that the earlier Joseph B. Pace may have also had a son named Thompson. The earlier Joseph B. Pace is believed to be a son of William Pace and Susannah West, known descendants of John Pace of Middlesex. So, my question is, does anyone have a transcription of the Paces in the Orange Co, NC censuses for 1820, 1830 or 1840? This could do a lot to establish whether this is a new major branch of the descendants of John Pace of Middlesex. Gordon W. Pace ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
