There was a John Pace who married an Edney BATTEN around 1821 in Johnston Co. NC. I have run into several people researching this line; one expert was V. A. Pace Jr. and he said their children were Bartley, Larry, Rilda, and Zilpha. V.A. Pace Jr. also believed that John Pace was perhaps the illegitimate son of Stephen Pace (b.1757), and grandson of John and Sarah Burge Pace. I think V. A. Pace has dropped out of circulation. He posted: : "John Pace 1798-1872. Married to Edny Batten April 1821. Children Bartley, Rilda, Zilpha,Larry" Bruce Howard suggested that this John Pace was another child of Stephen Pace and Lucy Walker Pace, Stephen's 2nd wife. Is this possible, Jon? Her name was Georgia Pace Redmond (my father's sister) and I'm told she spent a good deal of time investigating & documenting Pace history in my childhood. While I have the results of her work, I don't have many references to original sources. What follows is the initial part of the list I received, including any known documentation.
