This small group is emerging as a very interesting study. There are three donors now tracing different lineages back to William and Sicely. DNA evidence relates them to the John Pace-Sarah ?Burgh? (John the Tory) group, but their submitted lineages show no relationship to that group. The problem is that there is no documentation as to William's father, and all before that seems to be speculation and circumstantial evidence. I have grouped these three at the bottom of the Group 3b chart so that they will be together, and I have grouped them on the Donors page, where there is also a link to some speculation by Charles R. Pace as to William's possible parentage-look for the link. Rebecca might have some commentary on this line???? http://www.pacesociety.org/DNA/Group3.htm and scroll to the bottom of the chart. Roy, I'm not sure why this is "emerging as an interesting study" based on the new results for the William Pace/Sicely Walker line. (What am I missing?) The new participant #134499, through William and Sicely's son Gideon only tested 12 markers and they are a perfect match not only to the previous participant through William and Sicely's son William Richard (#10683), but also to the modal (most common) result for all of Group 3b. In this case 12 markers really isn't enough to tell us anything new about this branch of the family. The other participant from this line (#16218) through William and Sicely's son Alsey does have a DNA difference at DYS 390 (marker 2), but this appears to have been a more "recent" change - somewhere between Alsey Pace and the participant. We do now have 12 marker DNA results for three lines of descent from William Pace and Sicely Walker - through Alsey, William Richard, and Gideon. Between the three sets of results, the results show that the father William Pace's 25 marker DNA results are a perfect match to the Group 3b modal - with the 1st 12 matching DNA marker results of the William Richard and Gideon lines and markers 13-25 matching for the Alsey and William Richard lines. These three results place this line solidly in Group 3b with the modal for these three results a perfect match overall at 25 markers to the Group 3b modal. The Information below may be of interest -- The Will of William Pace and a list of his children William PACE was born abt 1745 in Edgecombe Co. (now Halifax Co.) NC. He died 1845 in Montgomery County, Tennessee. William married Sisley WALKER, The Last documents that mention Sisley is about 1776. He may have Married Ann Cain before 1889. He had about 11 children 8-Sons Dempsey, Joel, Alsy, William Jr, , GIDEON, Hardy C., Henning, John,-- 3- Daughters- Patience, Martha (Patsy), Sarah(Sally), Will of William Pace, Sr. This copy of the Last Will and Testament of William Pace, Sr. has been transcribed by me from a photo static copy of the original. The original is listed in the 1845 Montgomery County, TN Will Book, Vol. J, page 453. The will was written on Nov. 6, 1829 and presumably probated in 1845. Where the text is illegible, asterisks have been inserted. A copy of the original will can be obtained from the Tennessee State Library & Archives. The Will follows. In the name of God Amen, I William Pace of Robertson County being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God in this 6th Day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine make and publish this my last Will & Testament in manner(?) following that is to say. More likely he was between 70 and 80. However, Bruce Howard, in his book Our Colonial Ancestors ,states that William was born about the year 1745 in Edgecombe Co. (now Halifax Co.) NC. This estimate is consistent with the census record. A Pace Society Bulletin, Vol. I gives his birth date as 1746-48. His wife is not mentioned in either the 1830 census or his will. She may not be in the 1820 census. Thus, she may have died before 1820. William Pace, Sr. bought his land in TN in 1803, but probably arrived earlier. According to Howard p. 329, William sold 101 acres on the North of the Tar River on the Great Branch in Franklin Co., NC on 9/16/1794 to David Jarnegan. He sold 444 acres (adjacent location) to Henry G. Williams on 9/6/1802, Howard pp 119-120. In TN in 1809, William purchased from Joseph Choate 100 acres of land. The deed was proved in open court by the oath of John David and Joel Pace. Signed: James R. Pace They had the following children: M i Dempsey PACE was born about 1786 and died after 1870. F ii Patience PACE. M iii Joel PACE. M iv Patsy PACE died before 1845. M v Hardy C. PACE. F vi Sally PACE. M vii Henning PACE. M viii William PACE. M ix John PACE. F x Sarah? PACE. William Pace mentions in his will of 1845 a daughter Sally Davis and also a daughter Sally Shaw. F xi Mary PACE. M xii Gideon PACE. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rebecca Christensen Sent: Thursday, December 04, 2008 11:13 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [PACE] William Pace-Sicely Walker descendents Roy, I'm not sure why this is "emerging as an interesting study" based on the new results for the William Pace/Sicely Walker line. Charles, surely the possible marriage date to Ann Cain would not be 1889 -- would you please check that for us?
