I am surprised that there were no responses to my previous posts about the tri-racial group in the upper south which included Paces. Since members of this group were classified variously as white, mulatto, or FPC (free person of color). Some of our non-matching Paces could come from this group, many of whom were so light skinned that they could easily pass into the white world and pass their name on.
