"The Betsy Pace who is listed as a young woman in the family of Nicholas and Polly is still a mystery, however I have wondered if she may have been a niece of Polly Pace:Although there was an Elizabeth who was born in 1814, could her full name have been Elizabeth Pace Gianniny,ie. Betsy Pace in the census: The marriage cert. for Nicholas Gianniny reveals that he was married on March 13, 1807 to Polly Pace in Albemarle County. She is listed as the daughter of Benjamin Pace." Note from Lois Carey---Could she have been my grgrandmother??( See below) My grgrandmother was Elizabeth P.b. abt. 1815 and married to John R.Pace b. 1809. We have never determined exactly who her parents were, although there has been much speculation. Additionally, Her son, John Walker Pace b, 1843, married Rebecca Ann Robinson, dau. of David Robinson and Mary Herndon( his second wife).David was born abt. 1789, and again, we do not know who his parents were. Since Polly , wife of Nicholas Gianniny, was said to be the daughter of Benjamin Pace and Ann Robinson or Roberson, this continues to intrigue me. Another strange coincedence is that when Mary Elizabeth Pace, dau. of John Walker Pace married James E. Hudson of Albemarle Co.Va, she moved into his home on the Woolen Mill Road, which happened to be next door to Nicholas Gianniny.( This information was given to me by Omer Allan Gianniny, Jr. of Charlottesville,Va who also lived on the Woolen Mill Road. If you google " Woolen Mill Road." you will see a picture of the house in which my aunt lived." The Hudson House" and a picture of her step-daughter, Mr. Hudson's dau. by his first marriage. When I found my Aunt's grave in Riverview Cemetery Charlottesville, Va. it is in the Hudson plot, right next to the Gianniny Plot. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Please note: My new email address is [email protected] Please remove [email protected] from your address books and files so that we can stay in touch!
