    1. [PACE] New virus tricks

    3. I have just received two messages with attached files that certainly contain viruses, and they could tempt an unsuspecting person. The first one said that the Acer computer that I ordered had been shipped and that the tracking information was in the attached file. I didn't order any Acer computer. The temptation is to open the file and try to correct the error. It was a .zip file, the most dangerous kind. When it "unzips" it can put a virus or a keystroke logging program on your computer to get your passwords and user names or it can infect your computer with a program allowing the perpetrator to send spam from your computer. The second purported to be from UPS and read as follows: Hello! Unfortunately we were not able to deliver postal package which was sent on the 8th of July in time because the addressee's address is erroneous. Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our department. United Parcel Service of America. Again it was a .zip file, not a text file as such an invoice should be. Don't fall for this type of scam. Never open a .zip file unless you know what it is (such as a program that you bought and downloaded). I'm sure a lot of people who are new to computers would fall for this. Roy Johnson
