The first reference to George Pace's wife being Obedience Worsham that I can find came from PSB #7. She is listed in the Bulletin as being a possible candidate, probably because she was the only Obedience to be found in the surviving records. And, as has happened many times before, the more something is passed around, the more factual it becomes, although that was clearly not the author's intent. This Obedience Worsham is mentioned in the will of John Worsham, her grandfather, in 1729. Also mentioned in this will, as a grandson, is a Francis Poythress who is under 21. [There seems to be more Francis Poythresses than Richard Paces.] Obedience is a cousin of this Francis Poythress, so probably around the same age and probably too young to be the wife of George Pace who was born abt 1695. She is still Obedience Worsham in 1729 and George Pace is in North Carolina by this time. I supposed George could have been married to someone before Obedience and could have come back to Prince George after her death and married Obedience Worsham after 1729; however, I find that unlikely.....John Pace In Henrico County, the Will of John Worsham, dated June 9, 1729, proved October 1, 1729. To son John, plantation I live on, except a small parcel on head of my son, William Worsham's plantation, he bought of John Ealam. To son, William, all the rest of said plantation. To grandson, Francis Poythress, a negro, etc. when 21. To grandson, Isham Epes. To granddaughter, Obediance Worsham, a gold ring. To son, Daniel's daughters' Phoebe, Martha and Elizabeth, a negro man and various items to them and their mother, Judith, the widow of Daniel. From: "John" < pjohndeb@verizon.net> Subject: [PACE] Was George Pace wife named Worsham Date: Sat, 03 Oct 2009 09:03:37 -0400 I have seen many posts that George Pace, son of John & Elizabeth Lowe Pace was married to Obedience Worsham. Does anyone have any evidence that Obedience's last name was Worsham? Thanks John Pace
