Hackney pace's father was William Jr and had a farm also in Cheatham Co Tn. Terry Pace which I have contacted is a grandchild of Allen Pace which were our neighbors and owned part of the Pace farm. I did not know Terry but I knew his dad Joe Pace. These Paces came from Virginia and settled in Robertson Co Tn before Cheatham Co Tn was established. My father was only 10 years old when his dad William Hackney Pace died. I never met my gandfather or grandmother on my dad's side of the family. But I am very familiar with the Shores family. Also I knew several of my grandfather's children. We lived in a 10 room house in Cheatham Co tn. which my grandfather built. Was this John R Pace some of this same family? ----- Original Message ----- From: Lois Long Carey To: virginia Sent: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 8:23 AM Subject: Re: William Hackney Pace Hi Virginia.Where was the Pace homplace? My grandfather is William Hackney Pace and Sallie Tennessee Gupton Blankenship on my father's side and Thomas Joseph Shores and Fannie Hogue on mother's side. I was born at the Pace homeplace in which my father owned part of my grandfathers land which was around 600 acres. William Pace, Jr and Martha Ann Shaw had a daughter Cassie Pace who married Jacob Shores who were my great great grandparents. My sister Eudora Frances Pace Hunter and my brother James Franklin Pace have passed away. I am now 81 years old and the last of my fathers children to live. I failed to write down the things about my family my mother told me which was a big mistake. My dad was born in 1889 and my mother was born in 1888.
Lois, I can send her info on her Pace family, but I don't see her email address in the message. Can you send it to me ? For those who are interested in seeing the Columbus ships, the Nina and Pinta, two handmade replicas are sailing up the Ohio River. They will be docked in various ports for a few days for touring. They are in Louisville, KY now and will be leaving Louisville the 23rd of Sept to sail upriver, arriving in Covington, KY the 25th. The complete schedule and pictures can be found here: http://www.thenina.com/ I am going to time my visit in hopes of catching them in full sail! John Pace
