    1. [PACE] Group 3 DNA Charts

    3. Since I am the one responsible for the creation of the Group 3 DNA charts, I feel I should explain them a little better. The first chart, created in 2004 I believe, was created to show the fallacies in the lineages submitted by DNA donors. Most of the donors obtained their listed lineages from the book by Bruce Howard, Our Colonial Ancestors. Even though DNA has proven that Mr. Howard was wrong on some of the lineages he posted in his book, he was correct on many more. Also to note is that he had a wealth of information in his book and he firmly stated that further research needed to be done on many lines. The naming patterns shown in the first chart were just another tool to illustrate the fallacies of the lineages. To sum up, this chart actually illustrated mistakes in the lineages and was not meant for anyone to use to see their own lineage. This chart has served it's purpose and is no longer useful. The second chart was created in 2005 and was only available on the private side of the Pace Society Website. The reason it was only on the private side is because it was based on lineages provided by the Pace Society Bulletins. And since the Society sells copies of the Bulletins to create funds, I felt a chart compiling the information contained in them should only be available to members. This chart showed that much of the earlier research and conclusions reached by others was more accurate, [or I should say agreed with the DNA results], than some of the conclusions of Mr. Howard. Since new information has been obtained and a new chart created, this chart is also, no longer useful. The third chart which was just posted recently[ http://www.pacesociety.org/DNA/names.htm ]is a compilation of Pace Society Bulletins, genealogy books, and most importantly, the recent research of original documents done by many members of the Society. This chart is the most accurate one which I have made and is as accurate as it can be using the information presently available; however, it should be used with skepticism, as should anyone's opinion on your lineage. Our historian, Valerie Tice is tirelessly researching everyday and turning up new information, so some of the conclusions shown in the present chart could be shown incorrect in the future. I do plan for this chart to be updated as new information is obtained and would like to ask for help in that matter. If you find information that disproves the conclusions depicted in the chart, please send me an email [pjohndeb@hotmail.com] explaining your arguments and let's keep this chart as accurate as we can. The reason the chart is on the public side of the website is so anyone can add their two cents worth and do not have to be a member of PSA to do so. However, we welcome new members and there are many original documents in the PSA database available to members which are invaluable to serious researchers. I would like to add that the lineage conclusions depicted in the chart are not just my opinion; they are the opinions and conclusions of several top researchers in the PSA. John Pace Trustee, PSA

    3. Since I have been trying to identify the Cosby name and a possible connection to my Paces in Fluvanna Va Is there any additional information available? My grgrandfather, John R.Pace named one of his sons-Richard Alphonso? Pace. The mother of this son has only been identified as Elizabeth b. 1815, However, there was a "Aunt Fanny Cosby" living with the family in 1900. I have also seen her first name as Louisa She was born in Alabama about 1825, returned to Virginia and married a Edwin N.Cosby who was a widower. They were neighbors of my family prior to her boarding with them in 1900. Edwin N. Cosby witnessed an application for a pension for my grgrandmother, Mary A. Herndon Robinson. Mary Herndon married David Robinson who may have a Cosby connection. He was born 1789 and died in 1861. He was the Father of Rebecca Ann Robinson (Roberson,Robertson) who married my grandfather, JohnWalker Pace b. 1843 in VA ----- Original Message ----- From: "John" <pjohndeb@verizon.net> To: <pace@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 11, 2010 6:21 PM Subject: [PACE] Group 3 DNA Charts > Since I am the one responsible for the creation of the Group 3 DNA > charts, > I feel I should explain them a little better.
