    3. Roy, Thanks for the information on the Pace's in England during the Hundred Years War. I have recently read several histories of this period, and it makes it even more vivid to imagine possible ancestors living during these events. You are a great asset to the Pace list! 3. Some time ago someone posted a link to a database with the names of two military Paces in the 1300s. I decided to research further the times and circumstances and see if I could "flesh out" these two Paces, give the historical circumstances of their times, and perhaps speculate on what military engagements they may have been involved in. I put this on the Pace Network at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pace/EarlyPacesinEngland/ The original file was found at http://www.icmacentre.ac.uk/soldier/database/search_musterdb.php Perhaps Gordon would want to link to this file on the Pace Society page or put the entire thing on the society page. 2. Lois Long Carey
    3. Do we know anything more about William Davis? or what happened to the Bible? I was reading on the internet "The History of Albemarle County,Va by Rev.Edgar Woods. It is a very interesting read for me since I descend from John Pace of Middlesex and Paces of Albemarle and Fluvanna Counties Have also been told that my ancestors were from Wales Just a little from it: The Floyd family states that about 1680 a Nathaniel Davis,Native of Wales married a child of Nicketti,Daughter of Indian Chief Opechancnough ( sounds like Chanco!) brother of Powhatan and that a Robert Davis was a son of these parents and an ancestor of Jefferson Davis Just thought it would be interesting to follow up on these people!

    1. [PACE] New virus tricks
    2. Roy Johnson
    3. I have just received two messages with attached files that certainly contain viruses, and they could tempt an unsuspecting person. The first one said that the Acer computer that I ordered had been shipped and that the tracking information was in the attached file. I didn't order any Acer computer. The temptation is to open the file and try to correct the error. It was a .zip file, the most dangerous kind. When it "unzips" it can put a virus or a keystroke logging program on your computer to get your passwords and user names or it can infect your computer with a program allowing the perpetrator to send spam from your computer. The second purported to be from UPS and read as follows: Hello! Unfortunately we were not able to deliver postal package which was sent on the 8th of July in time because the addressee's address is erroneous. Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our department. United Parcel Service of America. Again it was a .zip file, not a text file as such an invoice should be. Don't fall for this type of scam. Never open a .zip file unless you know what it is (such as a program that you bought and downloaded). I'm sure a lot of people who are new to computers would fall for this. Roy Johnson

    1. [PACE] Re was George Pace wife named Obedience Worsham
    2. John
    3. The first reference to George Pace's wife being Obedience Worsham that I can find came from PSB #7. She is listed in the Bulletin as being a possible candidate, probably because she was the only Obedience to be found in the surviving records. And, as has happened many times before, the more something is passed around, the more factual it becomes, although that was clearly not the author's intent. This Obedience Worsham is mentioned in the will of John Worsham, her grandfather, in 1729. Also mentioned in this will, as a grandson, is a Francis Poythress who is under 21. [There seems to be more Francis Poythresses than Richard Paces.] Obedience is a cousin of this Francis Poythress, so probably around the same age and probably too young to be the wife of George Pace who was born abt 1695. She is still Obedience Worsham in 1729 and George Pace is in North Carolina by this time. I supposed George could have been married to someone before Obedience and could have come back to Prince George after her death and married Obedience Worsham after 1729; however, I find that unlikely.....John Pace In Henrico County, the Will of John Worsham, dated June 9, 1729, proved October 1, 1729. To son John, plantation I live on, except a small parcel on head of my son, William Worsham's plantation, he bought of John Ealam. To son, William, all the rest of said plantation. If above sons have no heirs, then all to Daniel Worsham's eldest daughter, my granddaughter. To my son, Daniel's widow, Judith, to live on my plantation at Coldwater Run. (Daniel was the eldest son). To son, John, silver tobacco box, seal gold ring, etc. To son, William, items. To daughters, Elizabeth Marshall, Frances Rowlett, Mary Robertson, Martha Ward and Ann Osborn, each, 10 shillings. To grandson, Francis Poythress, a negro, etc. when 21. To grandson, Isham Epes. To granddaughter, Obediance Worsham, a gold ring. To son, Daniel's daughters' Phoebe, Martha and Elizabeth, a negro man and various items to them and their mother, Judith, the widow of Daniel. Rest to sons, John and William, and they to be executors. The witnesses were Joseph Royall, James Thompson and Henry Royall. From: "John" < pjohndeb@verizon.net> Subject: [PACE] Was George Pace wife named Worsham Date: Sat, 03 Oct 2009 09:03:37 -0400 I have seen many posts that George Pace, son of John & Elizabeth Lowe Pace was married to Obedience Worsham. 1. [PACE] New virus-scamming trick
    2. Roy Johnson
    3. The bad guys are always trying to find ways to trick you into letting them into your computer, and I just received a new one that could trick a lot of people. The message seemed to come from Acer and said that the Acer computer that I ordered was on the way, and the attached file would give me the order number and shipping details. I didn't order any Acer computer and they are trying to get me to open the attached file to correct the apparent error. It was a .zip file and you should NEVER open such a file if you do not know the source and what it is. When it "unzips" it will automatically run some program that will put a malicious virus on your computer, or worse, allow the perpetrator to get into your computer, find your passwords, perhaps log your keystrokes, or use your computer to send email messages to thousands of others. Don't fall for this new trick. Roy Johnson

Also, be sure to check and see if they also submitted an application for the Bounty Warrant Land. The BLM is just starting to index Bounty Warrants for the War of 1812 on their web site. It would be another record the National Archives might have that might mention these things , if your ancestor or his widow did not apply for a pension. So far, a few have been done for those who moved to the State of Arkansas. Good luck, Kim Stracener Zapalac
