Re: 1930 MONTANA census former MISSOURI PACE members Would anyone recognize what MISSOURI Pace family the following may have come from Grover G Pace b abt 1885 Missouri m Mable G - Oilmont, Toole Co. Mt Don B Pace b abt 1888 Missouri m Maggie L - Toole Co. Mt TOOLE County, Montana (just so. of Lethbridge, Alberta) where my grandfather - buried 1926 and north of Shelby, Montana Dan Pace of Great Falls sent me this info. I had stopped at a store nearby. When used my credit card the clerk saw the name PACE and said we have a PACE who works here. I didn't get to meet the Pace person. Just curious if these names from the census may connect to the person in the store. Curious Gord Pace
Lois, my James Pace was in Fluvanna (we've compared notes before), disappearing from the census between 1850 & 1860. I have his date of death as 20 Mar 1858. I suppose that the only way he could have been credited with a slave would have been if they were refering to his estate. There is a deed showing his purchase of 58 1/2 acres from Emily & Champion Bledsoe, on both sides of the road from Central Plains to the Courthouse, in 1848. ( James' wife was Mary P. Champion.) All but 7 acres of this land was sold by the heirs in 1886. My line comes down through James' son Charles Moore Pace who mar. Nannie (Nancy ?) Elizabeth Childress. It appears that James (Lee ?) Pace was the son of William (G. ?) Pace and Lucy Pace (mar. 1805, Goochland Co.). William Pace appears to be the son of Joseph Pace, Jr. (RS) , born 1741, Gooch. Co., and Ann Pace (mar. 1782). Joseph Pace, Jr. was the son of Joseph Pace, Sr., born c. 1698, Middlesex Co., & Ann Basford. Joseph Pace, Sr. was the son of John Pace, of Middlesex Co., born prob. 1665, England. My Paces came to GA in 1918. Kathy Best

I subscribe to the " Fluvanna Review" a weekly publication in Fluvanna Virginia. In the paper dated Dec. 24-30,2009 is an article recognizing Robert Septimus Pace Jr. b. abt.1918 in Fluvanna County,Va. He is a descendent of William Moment Pace b. 1806 and Dicy King b. abt. 1813 the article is on page 25 and recognizes Mr. Pace for his lifetime of friedship and dedication to animals Mr. Pace has never married and is described as a World War II veteran and aficionado of the piano, classical music, art, history, antiques and genealogy Other family names connected to descendents of William Pace and Dicy King are White,King,Lyons, West,Farrar,Gillespie,TAylor,Mundy,Carter,Austin, Brockman,Moore,Wiatt,Nichols,Payne, McMahon, McCary,Coleman,Stafford,Davis,Cox,Preddy,Price, Crenshaw,Nunnally,Hoge,Chambers,Matthews, Boslcy,Miller,Moss,Burnham,Owen,Burton, Heinel, Bowman,Santer, These names are mentioned in the genealogy posted by Jack King entitled" Our American Cousins" on Rootsweb. I am a descendent of John R. Pace b. 1806, who I believe had some connection to the William Moment Pace family as there was a chancery suit between the descendents of John R.Pace and Wm. Moment Pace involving about 200 acres of land. I know that James L. Pace, a son of John R. Pace married Lucy V.( Lutie) Pace, who was born about 1853 in Albemarle Co. Would like to hear from descendents of William Moment Pace b. 1806 and Dicy King or John R.Pace b.1809 and Elizzbeth?( maiden name unknown)
Roy Johnson wrote: > I subscribe to Consumer Reports "On Health" pamphlet. Surgeon General's Family Health History Initiative http://www.hhs.gov/familyhistory/ This is interesting, In a similar way, I believe, is the fact that family likenesses such as facial features as seen in photographs, seem to get passed down also. This family likeness would seem to go hand-in-hand with what you're talking about with passed-on family medical situations. To illustrate this point, I was at the PACE Reunion at Kansas City and greeted by a couple who were rather astonished at my appearance. A couple years later, I was in their home and shown a family photo and asked, does this look like anyone you might know of? Well, I was as shocked as this couple was, two years earlier, at Kansas City. There certainly seemed to be a family resemblance. This was not the first time. In a PACE BULLETIN, a few years back was a photo and story of a man, STAFFORD PACE who had passed away at Fluvanna CO. (I think) Virginia. I looked closely at the photo in the Bulletin and went to a photo I have on one of my web pages; a photo of a portrait of GEORGE PACE of Sheriff Hales, Shropshire. He was the father of WILLIAM CHERRINGTON PACE who came with two sisters to IOWA in 1851 and had migrated to north/east KANSAS in 1871. The portrait of GEORGE PACE hangs in a descendent's living room in California, USA. The likeness between STAFFORD PACE of Virginia and GEORGE PACE of Sheriff Hales, Shropshire seemed to me to be rather apparent. I could mention a couple more similar stories of resemblances of this nature. Roy has brought up an interesting subject. Surgeon General's Family Health History Initiative http://www.hhs.gov/familyhistory/ Health care professionals have known for a long time that common diseases - heart disease, cancer, and diabetes - and rare diseases - like hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, and sickle cell anemia - can run in families. If one generation of a family has high blood pressure, it is not unusual for the next generation to have similarly high blood pressure. Tracing the illnesses suffered by your parents, grandparents, and other blood relatives can help your doctor predict the disorders to which you may be at risk and take action to keep you and your family healthy. I read a study of breast cancer as reported in Scientific American some time in the last couple of years. A genetic study was done of the victims in a certain area of southern Colorado. The report felt a specific group of related women were more susceptible. The article was quite interesting. Ricky: Thanks for the reply. I'd begun to wonder if anyone else in the world was interested in this particular branch of the family! I've come to many of the same conclusions you have. I do think that the tombstone date may be slightly in error, however. Levi and Henry were cited as age 6 in the 1860 census, 16 in 1870, and 26 in 1880. Levi gave his birth as July 1853 in the 1900 census, which is consistent with the other three. (Interestingly, Henry gave his as August 1853...different month!) I have put together an article about Levi, which I'm sending you off-list. I live in Valdese, NC, about 90 minutes from the Hendersonville area. I get up that way several times a year. Phillip Heavner
Phillip, I have also tried to locate Levi with no luck over the years. I got a death date of mar 30, 1920 from someone a few years back that I do not recall. His birthdate should be Jul 8, 1852 which is the date on his twin brothers (Henry Hazard Pace) death certificate and tombstone. Henry died Sep 18, 1914 and is buried in Mtn Page Bapt ch Cem. Many have posted this date as levi hansel Pace's death which is incorrect. I believe that Levi is buried in Mud Creek Bapt ch Cem with the rest of his family but there is not tombstone legible that would match his name or death dates. I have found no death certificate or tombstone to this date. I have checked the henderson co and polk Co cemetery books with no luck also. He and Martha from Census records appear to have at least 5 children: Anna Sue, Bessie J., Charles or Charlie, Benjamin, and Leander. I have also seen Willie, Newton Ella, and Margaret Pace but no proof that they are of this family or why they were listed with this family. Do you still live in the area? I posted this request several years ago, but I'm hoping some new information might be available. I'm looking for some help with a 'missing person.' My great-great grandfather, Levi Hansel Pace, was a son of Burrell and Caroline Hipps Pace. He was born 8 July 1859 (as best I can determine-some records say as early as 1852) and was a twin brother to Henry Hazard Pace. He married Martha Emaline Capps about 1881 and had 5 children, including my great-grandmother, Anna Pace.. He and Martha separated (haven't found a divorce) and she raised the children.. I have located him in the census for 1900, living alone in Tryon township, Polk Co., NC. His brother, Henry, died in 1914 in Henderson Co., NC. I cannot find Levi in the 1910 census or in any Henderson or Polk records after the 1900 census. I surmise that he died at some point between 1900 and about 1914. I base this on not being able to find him in the census or in NC death certificates. It has been suggested to me that he might be buried at Mountain Page and that his grave was unmarked. This is at least a credible statement, but I am just wondering if anyone might have some old family document-letter, Bible, recollections, etc., that might suggest what happened to Levi Pace. Thanks for any information or advice.

Matthew, can you tell me more about your Ransom Pace? Thanks, Addie PACE </HTML>
Matt, son of Thomas L. Pace (1950-2000), son of Troy Lee Pace (1925-1986) Troy died in NJ 28 Sep 1986 is believed to be connected to Leo Arnold Pace (need Proof). Leo died in Greenville Co, SC in 1962 with obit in Greenville news. When Troy died he left an Obit in Greenville Co SC Newspaper also. 1930 Census records do not connect Troy to Leo Arnold Pace. Was Troy living with a relative at the time? adopted? not mentioned in the census? If Troy is a son of Leo Arnold then he is the grandson of Randsom Taylor Pace (the one with 29 children from 3 wives) of Henderson/Polk Co, NC who is a decendent of Burrell Pace and Lydia Woodruff. Burrell Pace is son of John "The Tory" Pace and Sarah. Anyone have anything else to add? Matt do you know where Troy is buried? Is Thomas in the same cemetery? Matt, As I mentioned a few weeks ago, finding the obit for Troy in Penn (if it is the same Troy and I believe it might be) and / or the Obit for Leo Arnold Pace (son of Ransom Taylor Pace) who died in Greenville SC in 1962 would be very beneficial to you. The only problem I have with Leo Arnold Pace is that Troy is not listed with him in the 1930 census when Troy would have been about 5 years old. Could Troy have been adopted??? Leo Arnold Pace had a daughter born about 2 years before Troy was born. Her name was Myrtle Pace Styles Hawkins. In her Obit she mentions her deceased brother Troy Pace. The obit follows Ricky Pace Inman, SC Myrtle Styles Hawkins Travelers Rest Myrtle Pace Styles Hawkins, 81, of 710 Langley Road, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 21, 2004, at her home.
