    1. [PACE] John George m. Harriet Pace 24 June 1835
    2. Lois L. Carey
    3. John George is said to be the Uncle of Cecelia Johnson b.Feb. 10, 1827 in Goochland co Va Cecelia was the Dau of Anderson Johnson & Nancy Georgea Anderson George was the son of Obediah Johnson and Mary" Polly" Merrymand Cecelia Johnson married Sidney?Jesse Pace in 1841 He died in 1845 and Cecelia remarried to Samuel Bugg I have Cecelia Pace living with her father Anderson Johnson after the death of Sidney/Jesse along with a son Sidney Pace I believe that Sidney Pace also had a son named Sidney Bradford Pace, born in Fluvanna. His birth was reported by his grandmother,Cecelia Bugg. There seems to be some mystery about the family of Sidney/Jesse Pace( first husband of Cecelia) as well as the fact he and Cecelia had a son. Can anyone from the Pace, Johnson, George families add anything? Who were the parents of Harriett Pace wife of John George?

    1. Re: [PACE] Pace/Pearce
    2. > It would be interesting to see lineage of > Pierce who's DNA matches John of Midd. The difference in spelling is > common and name likeness are too. Yes, that would be interesting PEARCE is in Shareshill Staffordshire, although my PACE ancestry starts there around 1720 when my 6X great grandfather GEORGE PACE about 1720 came to Shareshill parish in south Staffordshire, about 30 miles east of where he was Christened in 1670 Little doubt the name similarity went further back as stated: 1. JEREMIAH PIERCE is thought to have been born in 1710 in Essex County, Virginia. (This is an unverified entry.) I have here notes of a PACE cousin, Adrian Fenton of Pittsburg PA. Our common ancestor being JOSEPH PACE Chr 1735. Adrian had included several PEARCE name entries as a variant of Pace in his study of Shareshill parish in Staffordshire. This name similarity went on in this parish into the early 1900s. It's my opinion JEREMIAH PIERCE of Virginia probably had PACE connection much further back in Shropshire. Latin was used now and then for recording in registers; the name PEACE seemed to be a minor variant too. In north Staffordshire, it took the spelling PASS and much of that migrated to Birmingham. Leonard Pace of Wolverhampton, a Pace researcher and Methodist preacher married a PASS. Based upon notes gathered from the Shareshill, Staffordshire parish Church of St.Mary & St.Luke (one church) PEACE-PACE-PIERCE-PEARCE-PASS similarity appears more common than previously thought. GEORGE PACE Chr 1670 Prees, Shropshire, thought to be brother of John Pace of Middlesex, came to Shareshill parish Staffordshire after Chr. of son JOSEPH 10 Sep 1709 at Ranton, Staffordshire. There is a first PACE entry at Shareshill in 1730, marriage of a Joshua Paste (in the register) to Margaret Mather. We are of the opinion this was Joseph Pace Christened in 1709, son of George Pace and 2nd wife Elizabeth Picken. It appeared previously, Joseph and Joshua plus minor variants of these seemed to represent the same person. I had wondered if the Latin translation had something to do with that as it likely did with understanding PEACE-PACE-PIERCE-PEARCE-PASS SOMETIME after JOSEPH PACE's Christening at RANTON in 1709 this PACE family relocated to SHARESHILL parish about 10 or 12 miles south/east of RANTON. TODAY's location near Junction 11 of M-6 Motorway. PACE family descendents are still there today and run a farm market, Holly's Farm Market near the Wheatsheaf Inn near the roundabout. Also work a TV programme Antique Roadshow seen on BBC TV. General Registers 1725-1812 Shareshill, includes Little Sardon, Laney Green Although it's interesting there are several Pearce entries in these notes, I think the ancestry of JEREMIAH PIERCE of Virginia goes much further back in time. A similar story with Palmer, Bladen which sticks close to Pace in the UK Midlands parishes they migrated to in more recent years. The Francis Palmer, father of Margaret Palmer seems to be connected to a large Palmer finding I came across from in the Welsh mountain area, Bishops Castle, Hopesay, Lydbury North. I added them to http://www.pacefamilyhistory.info/records/palmer.htm Use reload or refresh to update, get latest version. Gord

    3. HI I saw your question on Dempsey Pace Bastrop Co, TX land. He was one of the 8 children of Gideon Pace,( 1828 settler in Austin Colony), who died in September 1829 leaving the children orphans. Four of his sons, James R., William C., Wesley W., and Dempsey C. fought at the battle of San Jacinto. James and Dempsey also fought at the Battle of Bexar. They were from TN. Gideon was the son of William Pace and Sisely Walker. In the Biographies of the San Jacinto Veterans prepared by Mr. Kemp...He states they are from VA. Which is not correct. These paces are descendent of William Moment Pace who was born 1806 and married Dicy King. I believe there is some connection between my Pace family and theirs because of a chancery suit brought against them by my grandfather, John Walker Pace b. 1843, who has been connected to John Of Middlesex thru DNA To my knowledge no descendent of William Moment Pace has done the DNA test although Mr. Robert Pace who is elderly but still lives in Fluvanna did agree to do it several years ago. He has never been married and lives alone in Troy,Va I understand he has many antiques from the Pace family at his home. Would love to know if they have the same DNA ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Wed, 3 Mar 2010 09:58:40 EST From: Fpg0663@wmconnect.com Subject: Re: [PACE] Pace Land Records for The Republic of Texas and The State of Texas... He stated he had been in Bastrop Co., TX abt. 1828 and was a single man. He bought 1,476.13 acres and it sure was cheap at that time. I have the following: William Maclaren Steger b. July 31, 1807 in Buckingham County,Va + Maria Louisa Seargeant Sept 1831-Buckingham Co Va Their daughter Elvira McClaren Steger b. 1845 in Christian County, Ky(western part of the state) + George Robin Pierce m. on Nov 18, 1862 I believe some of this info in from the Fluvanna co historical Society Bulletins Also in Va there is a store which uses the name Steger because they have some connection to fhe Fluvanna County Stegers. ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Wed, 3 Mar 2010 15:54:11 -0600 From: "Kim Stracener Zapalac" <zapnyou@aol.com> Subject: [PACE] Pace Land Records for The Republic of Texas and the State of Texas... The El Camino Real (Kings Highway) runs through Bastrop (Mina). This Dempsey Pace settled around the time that Stephen F. Austin set up the "Little Colony" of 100 families in this area, so I would think you might start with some of those sources. Another famous Texas family that came from this group was the Burleson families along with some other families that came from the Nacogdoches/Natchitoches areas (again located on the El Camino Real as was San Antonio). Another source might be the Catholic church in this area. Remember that they were "supposed" to practice the Catholic faith to be able to settle in Texas. And people left this area after The Republic of Texas and later State of Texas formed to new land grants either for their service or for other "free" land. Apparently Pierce and Pace surnames were interchanged often in the Shropshire area and in the Middlesex area (including descending lines) . However, I have not seen instances of this interchange in other Pace lines. Has anyone? If this is a peculiarity of Shropshire and Middlesex, it further corroborates the Shropshire origins of John of M, although I think we have enough evidence already. I have not yet posted the short lineage of this donor, but I will try to get it up soon.
