    3. I discovered an e-mail you sent in 1999, while doing family research this day. I noted you have a question about a William Carroll Pace and cited the 1860 census of Marion County Arkansas and also that you know of a deed[Land transaction in Rutherford County Tennessee between Kings and Paces], that a Bob Pace made you aware of. My great-great Grandfather was the John King listed in the land transaction with the Paces in 1846, in Rutherford County Tenn. Also, if you check the Marion County Arkansas[Jimmie's Creek Township] census for 1860, you will note the Paces and Kings are once again connected. My great-great grandfather, John King was living next door the the William Carroll Pace family and furthermore, in John King's household there is a William Pace, age 89, born in North Carolina. In my family, we remain confused as to why William Pace was living in a King household. We have concluded that since the Kings and Paces were connected while ling in Rutherford County Tennessee, prior to all of them relocating to Arkansas about 1850, or so, that John King was being a good neighbor, or that the Paces and Kings were in fact relatives in some way. We are thinking that William Pace, age 89, was either William Carroll Pace's father or his grandfather. Also, we know that John King's wife was Elizabeth Ralph and her mother had been a Mc Cracken--William Carroll Pace's wife Emily had also been a McCracken before marriage. Our family focus is finding out for sure who was John King's father--the land transaction in Rutherford county Tennessee has a William King and a John King selling land to William Pace and to a William Carroll Pace--is this William King John King's father?? If you can help me, I would deeply appreciate it. Carolyn Caton [name before marriage was King]

    3. I'll have to do some hunting to see if I still had that page. There are over 100 pages on the Pace Network and I lose track. You had a web page about sayings from the Ozarks etc. that seemed to be similar, if not the exact same. Do you still have this web page on the sayings? Probably the sayings from the pottery district of central Staffordshire are the same as those from the Black Country in south Staffordshire. The distance between the two in Staffs. is about 25 miles at the most. If you still have the page, maybe I could add many of these sayings appearing on the Black Country list. No doubt they originated from folks who left the Staffordshire industrial districts and brought their trades and way of talk to the US. 1. [PACE] Ben Pace mentioned in Book on Civil War by Robt Crewdson
    2. Lois L. Carey
    3. A. book written by Robert H. Crewdson.mentions a Ben Pace. The book is entitled" Love and War" and is basically a collection of letters written by Merit Branch Thurman to his Future wife, Jane Rosser Humphrey, who lived at Union Mills in Fluvanna County,Va during the Civil War. One letter mentions that he was visited in camp By a Ben Pace, Jim Harlow and Walker Tyler. I would think the letter was written in 1862. Would anyone know who this Ben Pace was? This is a great book if anyone is interested in the war and Virginia Soldiers.

    3. FYI - I do not know if this has been on the list before. I do know that I have seen Pace spelled like this in other documents, so I noted it just in case. Words in brackets are my comments. The image is available on Ancestry.com. For those who do not have a subscription to Ancestry.com, Google Books also has a copy of the book. I also did a quick search for the ship "Thomas Henry Taverner" It also showed up as the name of a ship, nearly 40 years, later traveling from Barbados to America. 3. A document lists John R Pace in the lineage below as being born in KY but other records say VA. Easy to explain. He was born in 1791. Kentucky split from Virginia in June 1792. So he ws technically born in VA but might say he was born in KY since he probably grew up in KY. Here is the listing from the Donors page. Maybe someone can help track him back to John of M, as the DNA shows definitely that this is his lineage. Kit 175440 0 Donor 1 Clyde W.
