    1. Mary Bartlett m. Benj. Pace 1845-could she be a Baskett?
    2. Lois Long Carey
    3. I recently posted some confusion about the Benjamin H. Paces that I have found in Fluvanna co.Va. I posted this to the Bartlett Forum : Benjamin H Pace & Martha Ann Bartlett by Vogt & Kethley Min. Robert Lilley I received a reply from a Jim Barlett who says the following: If she was a Bartlett there was only one Bartlett family in Fluvanna in 1823 to1845 time frame. He say there were conflictin record over the maiden Name of the above mentioned Martha. Does anyone know that this is really a martha Bartlett who married Benjamin H. Pace. Any documentation? In the past Gordon posted some information about Bartletts being buried with Paces in Bethlehem Church Yard, Clark Co. Ky.

    1. Funding for DNA
    2. Roy Johnson
    3. A week or so ago I posted a request for funding for the line below. I have enough offers for a 12 marker test but would like to go 25 markers if possible. Any other takers? I have been slower at follow-up than usual because I have been away from my computer for awhile. If no more funding is forthcoming now, I will go ahead with the 12 marker and try to upgrade later. This is possibly from the disputed Frederick of Wales line, and we need more data on this line, so this could be a useful one. Please note: I have used "Frederick of Wales" only as an identifier for this line. This does not indicate an endorsement one way or the other as to whether there was indeed a Frederick of Wales. However, so far the DNA indicates that this line does not fit any other Pace line in the study. Again, here is the lineage: Grandfather Joseph H. Pace Born oct 14, 1871 Benton Co, Arkansas Died may 5, 1944 Fort Smith, Arkansas Have funeral record, death certificate, census records, and photos. Great Grandfather William R. Pace Born May 12, 1821 Tenn Died May 15, 1892 Benton co, rkansas Evidence from census records and photos of tombstones Roy Johnson DNA coordinator

    1. GABRAEL PACE mid 1700's
    2. Has anyone heard of a GABRAEL PACE ? I have a mysterious GABRAEL PACE of Norbury,Staffordshire,England that shows in parish register Christenings, mid 1700's where my 6X great grandfather GEORGE PACE had Christenings. GABRAEL PACE seemed to disappear, I'm wondering if he emmigrated and showed up in someone's US family. I have no Christening for GABRAEL, the father, but since his appearance is in the same parish as my 6X great grandfather, there might be something to learn from his 'appearance'. THOMAS PACE Christening: 17 DEC 1749 Norbury, Stafford Father: GABRAEL PACE Batch Number: C039402 GABRAEL PACE Male Christening: 20 MAY 1753 Norbury, Stafford Father: GABRAEL PACE GT Pace - Ontario Canada

    1. Richmond & Dempsey Pace - Rev. Records
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. Is it possible that this Richmond Pace is not the Richmond Pace who was the son of John and Sarah Burge Pace--the theory is that he died with his father as a Tory, probably at the Battle of Shallow Ford ? Wasn't there another Richmond Pace? Betty Pace From: "darlene" <darlene@adweb.net> To: PACE-L@rootsweb.com Date: Thu, 30 Jun 2005 08:04:16 -0700 Subject: I got Paper from NC archives on Richmond Pace and Dempsey Pace I don't have Bruce Howard Book, but does he say Richmond Pace died in Rev War..? and do any of you think this is our Richmond Pace of Surry Co NC as Surry was carved our ot Rowan Co NC in 1770 , When I sent for these I was under the impression these two Guys were in Surry Co NC Rev War Records ...but nothing on these records show Surry Co NC .... According to Papers both Dempsey and Richmond Pace recieved monies after the war....and they were listed in archives Rev War list as Surry Co NC yet records show this :Richmond received his thru Comptroller's Bruce & Hunter in Salisbury Dist in Rowan Co NC, date is July 30 1782 Dempsey received his from Sher. & Barrows or Bannows in Halifax Co NC in 1784, and in 1786 in Warrenton It is in Warren Co NC Richmond Pace received for Public Claim 6 pounds and four Shillings July 30 1782 Richmond was receiving his from the Salisbury Dist of NC Dempsey Pace received from Halifax Dist in 1784 and from the Warrenton Dist as late as 1786 monies. He also receive abt the same amt as Richmond Pace and later dates notes 27.0.0 so not sure if it still pounds or shillings...does not look like Dollars... The NC Archives did not have the actual enlistment Records on file, guess If I want to find out more will have to send somewhere else for them.....and not sure where one get Rev War Records ... Does anyone know... Darlene Pace From: ArlisG@aol.com To: PACE-L@rootsweb.com Date: Fri, 1 Jul 2005 15:49:07 EDT Subject: Dempsey and Richmond Pace Revolutionary War Payments In reference to Darlene's post about Revolutionary War payments to Dempsey and Richmond Pace: The source of the records are probably the North Carolina Revolutionary Army Accounts Secretary of State Treasurer's & Comptroller's Papers. The North Carolina Revolutionary Army Accounts might contain a list of men under an officer that were paid 2 shillings 8 pence a day for 7 days, a total of 18 shillings 8 pence for the 7 days. The lists also contain such things as Thomas Nuby for 1 Barrel of Pork or Gideon Lamb for 11 days of waggon hire. Dempsey Pace and Richmond Pace were given payments for some kind of goods or services done during the war by the State of North Carolina. The Claim or record of payment with the names of others on a list or series of lists from the same area might reveal where Richmond or Dempsey lived. If you knew that the majority of the men on the list with Richmond lived in Surry County, you could say that there was a strong possibility that Richmond was also from Surry County. If the NC Archives listed Surry County for Richmond and Dempsey that is probably where they were. The place of payment, Warrenton, Halifax, etc. would not give any indication of the place the person lived. Claims were to be made at certain locations, many had to travel a great distance and thus never filed any claim. Suggested reading: Helen F. M. Leary and Maurice R. Stirewalt, North Carolina Research: Genealogy and Local History, Section 33, pages 342-412, Military Records by George Stevenson for a detailed explanation. Weynette Parks Haun gave the above reference in her introduction to her 1st volume of transcriptions of the NC Revolutionary War Accounts, as well as other background material. 2. Darlene, for these records, you'll need to write to General Reference Branch (NNRG-P), National Archives and Records Administration, 7th and Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20408. Ask them to send you __ copies of the form for ordering records. It has been a while since I have ordered these so things may have changed. There may be a form on line. I don't know. We can get the records from the Fed. Archives branch, here in Atlanta, also, but don't think all branches have these records. Good luck. Kathy Best

    3. Darlene, Additional on Richmond Pace, pages 224 and 225 from Bruce's book: "The next son of John and Sarah was Richmond Pace. He was born in Prince George County, Virginia. His date of birth is established from the tax records of Surry County. He was born in the year 1758, and was brought as a child to old Edgecombe County where he was reared to his teen years. As we have already discussed the family moved to the upper part of Surry County where his father established a farm on Fisher River, now Fish River, just above its confluence with the Yadkin. "We have already discussed the fact that he was killed in a fight with Patriot Troops in the year 1780. We have further discussed the property which was granted in his name and how that property was separated into two tracts one for Mrs. Sarah Pace and the other for Richmond's widow, Elizabeth Pace. There is no doubt that Elizabeth remarried after the war ended and life began to settle down in the area. ...............She was still Elizabeth Pace in the year 1782, but is never found in any record by that name after that year." 3. Darlene, Bruce's book, pages 208 and 209: "On the morning of the 15th the two belligerents collided on the west side of the river on the high ground above the ford, in what is today Yadkin County, and a sharp engagement took pace. The Tory force was given as 300 mounted men and of that number it is said 14 or 15 of them were killed in the engagement and only one Patriot killed. The Tories broke in confusion and scattered in every direction. They made good their escape, but the Patriots continued to hunt for them and give battle wherever found. "The problem is no record was ever made giving the names of the killed and wounded in this affair. It is a fact, however, that John, Thomas and Richmond Pace died during that same time period. They never returned home, and in a petition sent by Burwell Pace to the General Assembly in 1781, he states that his father and brother were both "killed" as opposed by just being dead......."
