    1. Capt. John Smith
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. I know that the movie "The New World" was not especially accurate regarding Capt. John Smith and the early days of Jamestown. There is a book which claims to present the salient and truthful facts about John Smith and his role before, during and after the Jamestown colony. I can't determine whether it has flaws of scholarship, but it is very readable and does seem to give good background to the colony in the days of Richard & Isabel. "Captain John Smith: Jamestown and the Birth of the American Dream." by Dorothy & Thomas Hoobler. Pub'd 2006 by John Wiley & Sons. The dustcover credits the authors with other notable books on history, some award-winning, especially the series on "The American Family Albums," dealing with the cultures of various American ethnic and racial groups. 1. Isabel Smythe
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. Has any definitive research been done on the parents of Isabel Smythe? I know from researching my mother's English-Welsh family that English people most often followed a naming pattern for their children. That suggests that either the father of Richard I or the father of Isabel was a George, thus accounting for the name of their first son. Also generally English people married in the home parish of the bride. Betty Pace

This has puzzled me for quite a while

I have done a search for the information I want and it comes up straight away but because I don't have membership it won't let me see any details. Would anyone be willing to complete this search for me please? Information for 1841 census: Mary Hassall b. abt 1771 Shropshire (probably Northwood) I would be so grateful. In anticipation. 1. Re: [PACE-L] Benjamin Pace, Third son of John ( which John)
    2. Benjamin Pace son of John Pace of Middlesex is the Benjamin refered to in the book "A Place in Time" This Benjamin married a woman named MARY, whoe's family name has never been determined. Benjamin and Mary had the following children. 1. I believe also a Benjamin who was born about 1724 but who's birth was not recorded in The Christ Church Register. Other children 2-Elizabeth pace b. 17,Jan.1730/1 CCPR p.150, she was probably the Eliza. who died in 1740. 3- Mary Pace b. 20, Jan.1734/5 CCPR p. 140, 4- Ann Pace b.20, Aug. 1737 CCPR p.145, 5- Joseph Pace b. 11, Feb.1732/3 CCPR p.96. I contend that the #1 son above was the Benjamin Pace who died in King and Queen in May1841. That he was the Benjamin who married Francis Williamson and they had children Benjamin III, Williamson (married Cressy Saunders) and Rev. John who married Margaret Irvine in Campbell Co. Va., and migrated to n. Ky and finally Illinois. He was born in K&Q 12, Aug 1764. In 1781 the Pace quit tax was on 563 K & Q acres. In 1790 the tax on those acres were split between Benjamin III and brother John. Williamson had died during the Rev. War of small pox, probably the reason he was not a part of the 1790 tax. There was a David Pace in K&Q during the Revolution but other than selling supplies to the Army there is no additional information on him. King and Queen was a burn County in Rev and Civil Wars. There was a Pace Church in K&Q that was used also as a Court House after the Feds had burn down the regular Court House. Jack Pace / Williamsburg Va.
